Well I havent seen many companies that do not offer as an alternative to being laid off that the person can move to another location.
I dont see the issue personally..a union is similar to a large corporation, meaning a union serves many locations but of duplicate function..same as say Honeywell that has like a billion locations around the country with many replicate job functions.
It doesnt seem like a big deal to me..in fact it is a respectful way of consolidating schools that are reducing population and not punishing the staff in the process.

I guess I dont think that is the reason for a school closing.
A bad teacher might be reason for some complaints and maybe some people leaving, but a school closing is usually due to a dwindling population base versus bad teachers..
