Dolphins 30, Jets 9: Backup quarterback Matt Moore threw a touchdown pass and visiting Miami received stellar play from its special teams in winning its third straight game.

Moore replaced an injured Ryan Tannehill early in the first quarter and completed 11 of 19 passes for 131 yards, including a 4-yard scoring pass to tight end Anthony Fasano to give the Dolphins (4-3) a 27-3 lead with just over 8 1/2 minutes left in the third quarter.

Olivier Vernon recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for Miami's first touchdown and blocked a field goal in the waning seconds of the first half as the Dolphins bolted to a 20-0 halftime lead and avenged an overtime loss to New York (3-5) last month.

Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez had a dismal day, finishing 28-for-54 for 283 yards with one TD and one interception while getting sacked four times. He also lost fumble that led to Daniel Thomas' 3-yard run and a 17-0 lead in the first minute of the second quarter.

Dan Carpenter, who missed two field goals in last month's defeat, including a game-winner in OT, converted all three attempts as the Dolphins handed the Jets their second straight defeat and fourth loss in five games.

New York didn't get into the end zone until Sanchez connected with Chaz Schilens on a 5-yard scoring pass with 7:20 to play.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tannehill was hurt early in the opening quarter, suffering an injury to his left quadriceps and knee on a sack by Calvin Pace. ... Jets running back Joe McKnight exited the game in the first quarter after aggravating a high ankle sprain on a kick return. ... New York, which had more penalty yards (30) than rushing yards (18) at halftime, has lost four of its last five meetings at home against the Dolphins.
