Domenik Hixon was hurt while making a highlight-reel touchdown catch as the injury-riddled New York Giants overcame the loss of two key receivers and posted a 28-16 victory over the visiting St. Louis Rams on Monday night.

New York, which began the season without several significant players on defense because of injury, lost Hixon (knee) and Mario Manningham (head) in the first half. Hixon's 22-yard TD reception late in the second quarter gave the Giants a 21-6 lead when he tapped the ball into the air several times while falling before holding on.

Eli Manning was 18-of-29 for 200 yards and two scores for the Giants, who have won five straight over the Rams.

St. Louis' Sam Bradford was 22-of-46 for a career-high 331 yards and a touchdown.

Manning, who entered with seven touchdown passes and no interceptions in two career games against St. Louis, was picked off by Quintin Mikell on the opening drive. Bradford hooked up with Danario Alexander for a 68-yard pass that put the Rams on the New York 1, but St. Louis had to settle for a field goal by Josh Brown and a 3-0 lead.

The Rams failed to come away with a touchdown twice more in the red zone, and the Giants capitalized on a pair of turnovers to move ahead for good.

After Greg Salas muffed a punt and Bradley Fletcher was called for pass interference on 4th-and-4, Manning made a 3-yard pass to Hakeem Nicks to give New York a 7-3 advantage with 5:53 left in the first. Cadillac Williams dropped a lateral from Bradford early in the second, and Michael Boley scooped up the ball and ran 65 yards for a 14-6 lead.
