Baltimore Orioles vs New York Yankees Box Score on Aug 13, 2019

DJ LeMahieu homered on the first pitch, and the New York Yankees extended their winning streak over the visiting Baltimore Orioles to 15 games with an 8-3 victory Tuesday night.

The Yankees improved to 16-2 against the Orioles and have not lost to them since March 31 in New York. It is their longest single-season winning streak against one opponent since also posting 15 straight wins against the 103-loss Philadelphia Athletics in 1954.

LeMahieu put the Yankees in front when he clobbered a fastball from John Means (8-8) into the left-center-field seats. It was LeMahieu's seventh career leadoff homer, his fifth this season, and his 19th long ball on the year overall.

The 446-foot blast was the 60th by the Yankees against the Orioles, extending their major league single-season record for homers hit against an opponent.

Cameron Maybin added a two-run single through a drawn-in infield in the second, and Aaron Judge roped a two-run double in a four-run fourth as the Yankees won for the 13th time in 15 games.

Gio Urshela had three more hits, including an RBI single that scored Judge in the fourth. Urshela does not have enough at-bats to qualify for the batting title but is hitting .336 -- one point lower than LeMahieu's league-leading mark.

Gary Sanchez added an RBI double in the fourth, and Mike Tauchman hit an RBI double in the fifth.

Domingo German (16-2) allowed two runs and five hits in seven innings to become the first 16-game winner in the majors this year. He struck out seven, walked one and won his career-high seventh straight decision.

Yankees right-hander Adonis Rosa finished up with two innings of one-run ball in his major league debut. He was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following the game.

Means allowed six runs on eight hits in 3 2/3 innings. He struck out one, walked two and did not get out of the fourth inning for the third straight start.

Anthony Santander, Stevie Wilkerson, Renato Nunez homered for Baltimore, which lost for the eighth time in nine games.

The Orioles allowed their 249th homer, extending their American League record. They are nine homers from matching the all-time record set by the 2016 Cincinnati Reds.
