New York bettors had a short reprieve from getting dominated by the Empire State’s online sportsbooks.
Key Takeaways
- New York’s online sportsbooks posted a combined 13.5% win rate for the week.
- Profits were the highest since mid-January.
- DraftKings and FanDuel won back over 14% each.
A week after a run of four consecutive double-digit win rates ended to start May, the eight mobile operators destroyed New Yorkers with a 13.5% hold during the week ending May 10. The New York State Gaming Commission reported on Friday that sportsbooks generated $69.4 million in revenue during the period, a 51.8% week-over-week increase.
Operators hauled in their biggest week of profits since mid-January, feasting during the second round of the NBA and NHL playoffs, as well as a busy MLB slate.
New Yorkers wagered $513.5 million during their difficult week. The handle was up 4% from the previous week and was just the second over $500 million in the last five periods.
Operators have won back at least 10% of the handle in six of the last eight weeks dating back to the first round of March Madness.
