New Jersey gaming revenue reached $520.8 million in February, a 7.4% rise from the $484.8 million reported during the same month last year.

Key Takeaways

  • Online casinos in New Jersey have generated more monthly revenue than physical Atlantic City locations for four straight months.

  • Severe winter storms reduced foot traffic and revenue at land-based venues, while the digital market expanded by over 21%, insulating the state's total tax intake.

  • The state gaming market has successfully maintained a $500-million monthly revenue floor for an entire year, signaling a permanent shift in consumer habits.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement reported this week that the state has now surpassed the $500-million threshold for 12 consecutive months. This sustained performance relies heavily on New Jersey online casinos, which mitigated losses in other sectors.

While total earnings climbed, New Jersey sports betting revenue fell 10.3% year over year to $66 million, following a 14.4% drop in total betting volume to $846.4 million. New Jersey Casino Control Commission chairman James Plousis asserted it was unclear if the drop came with the rise of prediction markets or if other variables were at play.

Still, online gambling was the primary growth engine for last month, generating $251.8 million, a 21.2% year-over-year increase from $207.8 million. It also marked the fifth consecutive month with revenue above $250 million.

This digital momentum countered a difficult month for physical locations in Atlantic City. The nine local casinos reported $202.9 million in direct gambling win, down 0.3% from the previous year. The late-February snowstorm may have discouraged travel to the coast and encouraged mobile gaming.

Performance among individual operators varied widely. Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa led the market with $53.7 million in casino win, reflecting a 7.7% year-over-year increase. Ocean Casino Resort followed with $35.4 million, up 9.4%. Conversely, Hard Rock Atlantic City saw a 14.2% decline, totaling $35.9 million for the month.

Digital platforms deliver record payouts amid market growth

The surge in New Jersey iCasino is punctuated by record-breaking individual wins on digital slot titles. A Caesars Rewards member won $1.2 million on Jan. 18 while playing IGT PlayDigital’s MegaJackpots Cash Eruption.

The payout occurred on a $30 wager and stands as the largest online jackpot ever distributed by Caesars online brands. The specific title has a recent history of large-scale prize distributions in New Jersey and beyond, with two jackpots awarded in September 2025 totaling more than $1.1 million.

One of the wins was from of a $15 wager that resulted in a $603,667 award. Just a week later, another player received $527,710 on the same game after staking 60 cents. Both jackpots occurred on Caesars Palace Online Casino in Michigan.

“MegaJackpotsCash Eruption continues to deliver memorable moments for our players on Caesars Palace Online Casino,” said Matthew Sunderland, senior vice president and chief iGaming officer at Caesars Digital. “When a favorite title reaches milestones like this, it reinforces why we focus on a seamless experience and engaging content that resonates with our players.”
