Multiple Sportsbooks Void Tyrese Haliburton Bets After Early Game 7 Injury

While the Pacers guard hit the over on 2.5 three-pointers, the early exit also led Haliburton to not have a shot at reaching 6.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and combination markets.

Many NBA Finals sports bettors received a reprieve during Game 7 on Sunday night.

Key Takeaways

  • DraftKings, Fanatics, bet365, and ESPN BET were among sportsbooks that voided losing wagers on Tyrese Haliburton props after he left the game with an injury Sunday night.
  • Over bettors came up short in several categories when Haliburton went down in the first quarter of the decisive Game 7.
  • The Pacers put up a fight in the first half and led at halftime before the Thunder rolled in the second half to claim the NBA title.

Multiple sportsbooks voided and refunded losing player prop bets placed on Indiana Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton, who suffered an Achilles injury in the first quarter of the decisive championship series game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

DraftKings, Fanatics Sportsbook, bet365, and ESPN BET – major U.S. operators – let customers off the hook.

“We will be refunding all losing bets that included Tyrese Haliburton on markets that were undetermined before he left the game,” DraftKings said in a post on social media site X. “This includes single and parlay wagers where he was the only losing selection. Credited inside 48 hours, digital bets only, refunded in DK Dollars.”

Fanatics refunded players through the Fair Play Policy, which acts like a promotion and covers the entire first half of the game. The online operator paid back more than $500,000 earlier in the NBA playoffs when Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry suffered a hamstring injury.

bet355 voided Haliburton bets and refunded customers through bonus bets. ESPN BET said bettors would receive voided wagers in bonus bets within 24 hours, and told customers, “We've got your back!”

Not so lucky

Many of Haliburton’s prop markets were affected. He did hit the over on 2.5 3-pointers before the injury, but he fell short of DraftKings’ 15.5 total points line. The early exit also led Haliburton to not have a shot at reaching 6.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and combination markets.

Hundreds of bettors took to social media to ask other sports betting operators to follow suit. Some customers were left disgruntled with the operators’ decision not to void Haliburton wagers, citing house rules.

Scary injury

Haliburton left the game after he went down with a non-contact lower leg injury at the 4:55 mark of the first quarter. The Pacers ruled him out in the second quarter, and multiple reports said it was an Achilles injury, which, if severe, could impact him at the start of next season.

Indiana played well in the first half without him, taking a one-point lead into the locker room. However, the Thunder outscored the Pacers by 13 points in the third quarter and held a double-digit lead for much of the second half, rolling to a 103-91 victory to claim their first NBA title since moving to OKC.
