With three games on Thanksgiving Day and one on Black Friday now in the rearview, NFL bettors turn their attention to 12 remaining Week 13 contests.

Key Takeaways

  • 49ers-Browns is one of the most-bet games heading into Sunday.

  • Bettors are backing a few more underdogs after last week’s favorites struggled to cover big spreads.

  • Popular favorites include the Dolphins, Rams, and Bucs.

The game getting the most attention heading into the weekend is 49ers-Browns. San Francisco is the most-bet team at BetMGM at -4.5 and getting 62% of the bets. However, there’s plenty of money coming in on the underdog Browns, as the handle is just slightly in the 49ers’ favor at 53%.

DraftKings has reported similar splits, with the ticket count closer to even than the handle.

With cold and snow showers in the forecast for Sunday in Cleveland, the total of 36.5 points is the lowest on the board this week, and the under is the second-most popular total at BetMGM, with over 90% of the money leaning in that direction.

New approach?

Last week, bettors piled on favorites, which struggled to cover big spreads. This week, bettors are taking a few different approaches in the early going.

The Seahawks are laying double digits for the second consecutive week, but this time, at DraftKings, at least, 84% of the money is on the underdog Vikings. Seattle is still getting 58% of the bets, and BetMGM reported that 85% of the money is backing the favorite.

DraftKings has also seen more money than bets come in on the Steelers, who are 3-point underdogs at home to Buffalo on Sunday, and Houston is getting more money as the underdog than the Colts (-4.5).

Both sportsbooks have seen an intriguing trend for Monday Night Football: The 7.5-point underdog Giants are taking more tickets than the Patriots. While DraftKings has still seen 69% of the money backing the home team, BetMGM reports 77% of the handle is on the Giants.

Public popularity

That doesn’t mean bettors are completely abandoning the teams laying points in Week 13. The Broncos (-5.5), Buccaneers (-3), and Bills (-3.5) join the 49ers as the most-bet teams by tickets heading into the weekend at BetMGM

Several of those are also heavily bet by handle, but the Giants are still in that mix as underdogs.

The Dolphins, 5.5-point favorites at home against the Saints, are the most-lopsided favorites by handle at DraftKings, getting 83% of the money. The Bucs are getting over 80% of the money at BetMGM as 3-point favorites against the Cardinals.

Expectedly, the Jaguars are receiving over 60% of the money as 6-point favorites at Tennessee, which has typically been passed over by bettors this season. The Titans have received just 8% of the moneyline handle at DraftKings.

The most popular underdogs at BetMGM this week include the Steelers (+155), Texans (+165), Panthers (+475), and Browns (+195).
