I think the reason backups tend to do well in GM1 is that the opposing teams don't scout them as well as the stars. Once the opp teams figure them out, it is much easier to exploit their weaknesses. Anyway, GL Aussie. PHX has a problem: their best players, Dupree and Griner like to operate in the paint and they have no sharpshooters to surround them.

Aussie, I do not have any numbers to prove my observation, but I noticed that backup players usually step up in the first game after a star is injured. But they cannot do that on a consistent basis. This is why they are backups.
Ok Ax. You have convinced me to stay away. Shock also have the Sparks on deck tomorrow as well. Might stay away from them for a bit.
Thoughts about Lynx -13 vs the Storm? Crazy big line but Lynx well rested now, Storm I think have played 5 games now in 7 nights and with travel, thats a lot to take on.

couldnt grab it quick enuff whn i saw indy dogged at home
Cheers Retburj.
My thoughts exactly. Fever are starting to come around and playing good ball. To keep the Mystics to just 50 points as well is a little worrying for all the other teams because the Mystics are in the top part of the league for FG shooting %'s. If the Fever can keep at it with their offense and then add defense like they did today, I believe they can possibly win the East. Sky struggling, Sun starting to come undone a little, Liberty hot and cold every week, Mystics had a bad game today but will be up there and then you have the Dream who are just a mess right now. The East is so congested right now any team can win it and I think the Fever can make th ECF if Tamika stays fit.

Aussie, WSH plays real fugly offense. 50 points is surprising but not that surprising.
As for tomorrow, I dunno about Lynx covering. I think their point diff is not that good this year, and they suck ATS. They are either struggling or taking it easy (or both). I'll have to think about it. But I might just play 2H if at all. In fact, the second game looks just as murky to me.

Axion, who do the Sparks have in their line-up today? Just saw that Abdi and Hoover are questionable along with Parker, Phillips and Beard all being out..
Would it be Toliver, Johnson, Ogwumike, Lavender and Tolo?

No idea Aussie. Could a problem again, LOL. I might actually watch the game and pregame show, but probably not. The total line really went up, ATS seems steady at -5.
Also, I might be wrong about the Lynx. They might be heating up, and SEA played them tough their last game. The Lynx might show up tomorrow.

Axion mentioned how back ups do well in game 1, but sputter in game 2. I couldn't agree more. Ofcoarse I can only say that I've seen it w/ men's ball, and often.
But that reminded me, at the begging of the season you mentioned that the girls don't handle B2B games as well as the men. And tomorrow's Shock@Sparks game has both teams w/ the same deal.
The Spark are 3.5 favs, an 0-7 team, 2-5 ats...hmmm. W/ tonights games yet to be decided yet.
I see a few angles converging very nicely here in favor of the Spark.
1. Back up players do well in first game, fall off game 2. (shock losing Skylar) *check
2. On a B2B*check
3. Shocks 5th game in 8 days(love this one) *check
4. Back ups are not used to the increased minutes. There's also a trickle down effect to deeper bench players who's minutes also increase. *check
5. Shock traveling(an easy trip, but a trip non the less)*check
Combine all these, and let me know how this ain't a perfect storm of what should be an ugly game full of miscues, poor shooting, and slow pace.
I haven't looked at any #'s yet. I'm slowly learning who the better coaches are.
But if a few more things line up, I see a great opportunity to play Sparks-3.5 and the under friday.

The LAS pregame show is singing praises to Toliver, calling her "Splash Sister".
The thing is she is a headcase, not as bad as Prince, but I do not think she can carry this team. No word on injuries yet. Time to open the first Heiniken.

Agler is really good at having his teams come off long roadies and play grinders, also when he was with Sea and on a losing streak his wins came to the under, gotta think with LA off a long roadie and desperate for their 1st win this could go under unless OT, no play just my thoughts

UMS, Axion is the LA Sparks expert mate. He watches almost every game.
I will see how they go today vs the Stars (I think Stars cover) and then re-assess tomorrow. I do like your angles though. If they somehow lose today, they will be in dire straits and needing a win more than ever tomorrow. I would tend to go with the home team when both teams are on B2B's as well. Shock bench is getting thinner each game and if they Shock upset the Mercury today in Phoenix, then I think they will be in for a letdown situation tomorrow. Lets see where the line moves.
The Sparks coach (Agler) is the worst offensive coach in the league. He couldn't organise a team full of Lebron, KD, Westbrook, Curry and Harden to reach 100 in a game. He is woeful with offense and thats why the Sparks are averaging I think 69 points per game and the Shock coach is a very good coach IMHO. Lets see how they go today and then re-assess. The line opened at -2 and is already at -3.5 quickly

Aussie, I get only the LAS home games on cable. And I am not even watching all of those. But I will probably watch today. Might be a fun game with Phillips, Toliver and McBride.

Are you kidding me Aussie ??? I thought it was the Mercs that are sucking big time in the 1Q. Sorry about that.
Nah the Mercs were up 26-9 at the end of the 1Q. I was looking at flashscore and the clowns had it the other way so I checked the WNBA site and it was Mercs 26-9 and now its 36-14 Mercs in the 2Q
