I believe that the Lakers will have this mindset tomorrow against the Spurs for two reasons: 1. The Lakers have been criticized all year long for being very inconsistent not only away, but at the Staples Center as well. I can't help but think that the city of LA is extremely nervous about their squad's chances to be championship contenders this year, especially with the recent blow-out losses at home against the Kings & Celtics. I believe that playing their rival on national televised TNT Thursday is the perfect situation for the Lakers to remind the world that they are still the team to beat, that they are still the defending back to back champions. 2. Revenge factor--San Antonio handed the Lakers an embarrassing loss in the Alamo dome back on December 28th by defeating the Lakers 97-82. Also, correct me if I am wrong, Bator has pointed out that teams who have beaten their opponent by double digits earlier in the season tend to not fair well when they play that same team the second time around. I think the Lakers (with Bynum returning) come out the gates running the triangle offense on all cylinders as they go on to a convincing win over their western conference rival The San Antonio Spurs. gl So the Lakers are capable of "serious ass kicking when they are focused, especially at the Staple Center"???--Did you see the Celtics game (at Staples and on National TV)? If they couldn't give a better showing for a huge game like that then your logice makes no sense. The Lakers are just plain tired. They have been to 3 straight NBA Finals, and it has worn them down. Spurs 105--Lakers 99 |

Sorry dendogg, No way the Knicks win tonight. Can they cover? Oh course, they have a chance to cover. The Spurs were embarrassed by the Knicks in NY. The Spurs have revenge on their minds, and will play like its a playoff game.

There is no way the Wiz will be able to keep up with the Sun's scoring. The Suns are playing good ball right now (4/4 SU & ATS).

Suns all the way. They are playing well right now 4/4 SU and ATS. The Wiz will never be able to keep up with the scoring the Suns are put on them.

Ny has lost 7 straight in sa. I'll be posting later with more, but i compleatly agree with you. Knicks are a team people like to bet also cause they are "fun" to watch, but fun to me is cashing not trashing tickets. Spurs come to play tonight. Did anybody see what they did to the last high scoring no d team they played denver I did. Love they play, i usually stay away from the national tv games fri night but Spurs is the play The Nuggets had scored 132,130,127 in the 3 games before playing the Spurs on Sunday. They managed just 97 pts (43% FG) against the Spurs. The Spurs are really concentrating on the defensive end recently. Opposing teams are averaging 91.2 pts against them over the last 7 games. |

Heading out there for the LA game, I've been a dedicated fan since The Admirals rookie season. Any good info' for a SA trip bother SP? --Whalewatcher....it depends on what you are into. Lots of cool family stuff to do (Riverwalk, Seaworld, Fiesta Texas, great restaurants, etc.) or there is also great "guy" stuff to do (couple of world class strip clubs, and some cool sports bars).

I have watched every minute of every Spurs game this season (shit for years!). The Spurs are in a great spot Friday vs. Knicks. One day of rest, playing at home, revenge, playing the best D of the season recently, and the Knicks have lost 5/6. Pop is stressing D everytime I hear him talk (I live in San Antonio). I love this game! -8 (b .5) all day long.

I have been coming to Covers for over 2 years. I just had to get an acct and saying what an ill informed, blabbering, joke ColonelJim is. CJ I see your posts constantly and you never have anything of substance to say or add to your "picks." If a team or player is from any place close to Philly you pick them just because they are from Philly. WTF??? This is a place to post opinions for gambling reasons. It is NOT a cheerleading blog. GO PHILLY!?? BTW-Half the time you get the spreads confused. EX. See above |
