Hey guys. I've been using Partybets but I've been unsatified thus far... what is the consensus around here for betting hockey?
Thanks for the feedback... |

Nothing like improving my record by picking 2 underdogs in 1 night. Nashville Predators @ Dallas Stars Dallas has a lot more going for them offensively but Ellis has played very strong in the games he's started this year and I expect more of the same tonight. Nashville's offense is the only concern here as they've only managed 1 goal in their last 6 periods. Having lost two on the road already, I expect a fired up Nashville offense to wake up tonight and edge out the Stars in what should be a close game. Nashville Predators (1 Units) - Pittsburgh Penguins @ Carolina Hurricanes I'm looking for Carolina to take advantage of a slow starting Penguins team. They'll be fired up tonight to take on the Penguins, the team who eliminated them from the playoffs last season with ease. Ward has a healthy record versus the Pens, and the value is good enough to make this a risk worth taking. Carolina Hurricanes (1 Unit) Good-luck tonight everyone! |

Detroit @ Buffalo - Under 5.5 (2 Units) (Buffalo's offense decided to wake up today.) Columbus - Win (1 Unit) (Another solid game from Columbus.) Toronto - Win (1 Unit) (What is going on in Leaf land?) |

Detroit Red Wings @ Buffalo Sabres The Red Wings have managed to score at least 3 goals in all 4 of their games this season, while Buffalo has only managed 4 goals total in 3 games. This line of thinking has be going with public opinion, in that, Detroit is the victor here. I'm going to take it step further and couple the Sabres solid GA and poor GF and take the under here. Under 5.5 - 2 Units Calgary Flames @ Columbus Blue Jackets Hard to predict what sort of Flames team we're going to see tonight. A deflated, discouraged version, or an angry motivated one looking to make up for last nights mishap. I'm going to go with my gut here and pick the well-rested Blue Jackets. I fully expect Calgary to come out strong looking to make a statement but am confident Mason and the gang to hold them off and take advantage of their rested legs late in the game to get the win. Columbus Blue Jackets - 1 Unit Colorado Avalanche @ Toronto Maple Leafs I have a real hard time believing Toronto hasn't won a game yet and am just waiting for something... anything to prove to me they're not as bad as they look. Though I doubt that really happens tonight, I expect at least a spark from players such as Stalberg, Bozak and MacDonald to try to make an impression tonight. Toronto Maple Leafs - 1 Unit |

Nice picks Johnny.
Nice writeups, I agree with most but I think Anahiem gets the win tonight. Hiller will be good from the start and they actually got a nice top two lines. A lot better than Minny's I think. Anyways, nice picks man and good luck. |

YTD: 1-1
Yesterday: 1-1 Today's picks: Ottawa Senators .vs. Toronto Maple Leafs With the consensus in the media pointing to Gustavsson to get his first NHL start, Toronto's defense knows they have to play much much better and I think they will. It's a lot to ask, but I think they pull it off tonight. Washington Capitals .vs. Philadelphia Flyers Both teams are on fire, and this is going to be a great game. Washington's potent offense I think will be a little frustrated tonight in how hard they're going to have to work to get chances. Philadelphia's attack is alive and kicking as well. Advantage goes to the team with a better backend, the Flyers. Montreal Canadians .vs. Calgary Flames Both teams are undefeated but let's be honest. Montreal did not deserve to win either of those games, Carey Price is to thank for those points. With a depleted defensive core, it's going to be tough to clear the crease as I fully expect Calgary to take advantage of the point shot tonight against Price. You can't stop what you can't see. Anahiem Ducks .vs. Minnesota Wild This isn't just a good feeling, it's good value. Hiller let in 4 goals last game but after the first period he settled in quite nicely and I expect him to play well tonight. Add in a questionable Mikko Kiovu and more offensive depth in Anahiem and I see them getting the win by 2+. Good-Luck everyone! |

This is my first go at it publicly, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.
New York Rangers .vs. New Jersey Devils You've got to love the chemistry already established between Dubinsky and Gaborik. As the dogs, I really like their chances to upset. Good value for a team with much more offensive punch. I'm going to take advantage of a healthy Gaborik while I can. I expect Broduer to bounce back but Lundqvist has played well so far so this one comes down to forward depth for me. Columbus Blue Jackets .vs. Vancouver Canucks Over (5.5) Under Not going to touch this one. Though common sense says Luongo and the Canucks will step it up and get their first win of the season at home tonight, you just can't count out Columbus. Mason is out to prove he is the real deal, and they've just got way more offense than Vancouver. I'm going to put my faith in the goaltending matchup and say the under is the play here. Good-luck everyone. |

I know most people think Detroit is the favourite here but I think this series is more evenly matched then most believe. I've been pretty impressed by the Pens thus far. The defense hasn't been all that bad. J. Staal is showing a real ability to shut down the opposing teams top players, and Malkin is doing the opposite of last playoffs... he's become clutch as oppose to invisible. Detroit... well, Detroit has just amazing depth. Scary.
Detroit takes game 1, but the Pens steal one on the road to start off what should be an awesome series! |

Where do you get your trends and statistics?... I'm asking because as a bet, a friend and I picked every game between October - December just to see how we'd do... I finished with a 287-241 record and he finished with a 290-238 record. Not great but I'm hoping by focusing on single games and not every game on that day + using tools like stats and trends, my record could be profitable... |

Will do.
What sort of things DO you guys look into, besides just your gut and your hockey sense? Any sort of stats or historical info? |

And what's your record, if you keep one...?

Hey guys just wondering if you ever take into consideration who's reffing the game when betting during the regular season?... I notice it's a pretty big focus in baseball and umps, especially when betting totals.
So yeah, what do you think? And if so... where do you get this information? |

AJ, I've been following your picks for awhile now and have made some decent profits. Never created an account here so I was unable to say thanks in the past. But since you're leaving I created one because I just wanted to say thank you for all the picks and best of luck ...
