Kudos to the Heat for catching DET with their pants around their ankles, but they're still garbage, and the Lakers are beating good teams on the road. They're hot, the Heat don't know what hot is.

Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks era will begin in earnest Sunday against the Los Angeles Lakers, but the duo got a taste of what life will be like with the Heat in their first practice Saturday. The newly acquired players from the Phoenix Suns even had to wear knee pads.
''It was totally different than a Mike D'Antoni practice,'' point guard Banks said.
After being traded for Shaquille O'Neal on Wednesday, Banks and Marion will face a familiar foe in the Lakers. Both said they hope their knowledge of the Lakers helps in their Heat debut. With Udonis Haslem (sprained ankle) sidelined, the 6-7 Marion said he expects to play mostly at power forward.
Riley said Marion had a noticeable impact in practice, sinking every shot in the scrimmage, making every layup and pass. He also had no turnovers, Riley

Another interesting development is the line moving down to 8.5 (as reflected here at covers, and at my offshore..)- Initially liking the Lakers (always liking CK's Picks); but the line mvmt is troubleing.
Of course, it could be a rouge. CK, should we worrry?

Take the points-- the new look Heat will be out to prove a point today to America that injuries have been detrimental to their overall record and I think Marion will put on a display against a Laker team that refuses to play defense on a regular basis.

Lakers have jumped to -9 on most sites, should still be a solid play. Over here is even better, Marion and Banks will have limited knowledge of pat riley's offense so look for the heat to get out and run as much a s possible. Miami averaged 93.4 points a game at home this year and that was with a banged up Shaq,

The OVER looks pretty solid with limited cohesiveness of Marion and Banks, the half court playbook will be very limited. This plays to both teams favor to RUN the ball all day. It will be a real 5 on 5 game without the BIGMACATTACK SHAQ in Miami anymore. Fast break points and points-in-paint will be keep this game pretty high LA 111, Miami 101

this game is a mismatch, and the Heat have new players and have to mix minutes in with new players and old players. They won't be decent yet. They have caught the Lakers at a bad time, because the Lakers look about ready to blast off and become the elite in the west.

Lakers and the over is an easy pick here. Miami will run and score but not know how to contain the New Look Lakers especially because Kobe loves beating up on D-Wade.

Also like the Lakers here - they should win this game by at least 10. Interestingly, Raptors (who I believe are not as good as the Lakers) were favoured by 9 going into Miami last week.

Quite a bit of people on the over here, not me. I just don't think that both teams will get up to 100 points in this one. Lakers should handle the Heat easily however as the Bryant/Gasol combination looks to be a good one. The line has gone up to 8 on my site, which is a little bit worrying, but not much. I think I'm going to put this into a teaser as well and buy the Lakers down to 3 points. If they can't beat the Heat by 3 points, then they should have to forfeit their next 3 games. Marion will be a nice addition to the Heat, but it will probably take at least a couple of games before his impact is really felt. Just take a look at the first game for Gasol with the Lakers.

looking for some feedback, i bet online with a new york based website, weird thing happened yesterday. usually when a game or 2H starts the line comes off the site, yesterday they left the knick game 2H line UP until 2 mins left in the 3Q, knicks were up 16 (29-13) so i took knicks 2H -3. the knicks came back and won!!! same thing happened on the davidson game, 2H bets were kept up until 12 mins left in 2H, score was 13-5 (18pts), i bet the 2H u 75... guess what they scored 77 in the 2H. 2 fishy losses. not a conspiracy guy but this a bit troubling. needless to say i lost some serious cash thinking finally had an edge. am i crazy?
