@ABooksNightmare "effect of crisis on elections"
In early stage of crisis, there is a "rally behind the leader" effect. For example, president Bush highest approval rating occurred after 9/11 attack in New York. Although Trump failed re-election in 2020, incumbent governments were more successful in other countries. However this effect is temporary. Since pandemic in 2020, incumbent governments lost in 40 of 54 elections of western democracies. Pandemics make people more unhappy and they blame government whether innocent or guilty. For example, Biden still lost although US had the best economic recovery in the world.

Renderings of the Ballroom are beautiful. It reminds me of an updated version of the ballroom in Congress Plaza in Chicago.
Should end up bumping him up a spot or two to third worst president in history.

Just look at what Biden did. No book needs to be written. Doesn't matter if what he did happened yesterday or 60 years ago. I saw and will remember. I'm sure millions feel the same way.

I won’t go into this whole discussion who is worse or better - because I can basically only name 5-6 of your presidents through time - as honestly I don’t normally care !
But if you watch objectively what Trump has “accomplished” in this 10 months:
1) Bailed out Argentina (that is so fucking corrupt it isn’t even funny)
2) Started an immigration “cleansing” in US
So I wonder which of these two you think will be kind to him in the history books
I think things like him siding with dictators across the world, him making AI videos where he shits on fellow Americans and the American flag etc. rather than trying to get the government back into work etc. will be the highlights if he will even mentioned

And let’s be real that cleansing is just a race cleansing plain and simple ! And those aren’t normally remembered fondly (neither should they) in the history books - a lot in US south states to this day think the civil war was fought because of economically reasons ? Yeah sure if you racists call it that

Who thinks the civil war was fought for economic reasons or?
I have read that statement several times online from your fellow countrymen - and also seen a few documentaries where it is mentioned - you could for instance go to 24:18 in the documentary called "White man walking" and watch those 5 mins there where he visit a shop in Georgia (if you can't be bothered watching and researching online)

"a lot in US south states to this day think the civil war was fought because of economically reasons ?"
My apologies, I must have forgotten how to read.

I wonder if you just want to make an argument with me for the sake of the argument? The civil war was fighted over slavery (primarily) - the south wanted to keep slaves because a lot of them are racist fucks - but that isn't cool to write into your history (or easy to process in your head) so a lot of them found other reasons for that war ! Just like a lot do to this day with the ICE agents ! Then it is because the immigrants are there illegally or because they take your job etc. Maybe for some of you it is - but for the majority it is just because you are WHITE and you want to feel better than them !

@Calde13 "immigration cleansing in the US"
Scapegoating and obsession with crime and punishment are among characteristics of fascism. Xenophobic Trump relentlessly attacks legal and illegal immigration. In zero tolerance policy, families are separated. Podcaster Rogan questions mass deportation of non-criminals. Pope Leo condemns US inhuman treatment of immigrants.

1) I disputed your presentation of southern states causation and asked for clarification.
2) Your follow up did not match your original statement. I asked for more follow up.
3) You tried to be cheeky and duck a literal quote before changing it to the thumbs up in #66. Your now edited response is what prompted #67.
5) I realized you're either inflexible or ignorant on the topic and realized there's nothing gained from discussion.
That's what happened, as it happened. I'd had followed the same process whoever suggested that. Being ignorant isn't a slight in this instance as none of us were around to understand the true motivations of the day. I would estimate when deciding to secede the reasons would be many, including financial.
It'd be like trying to argue the Nazi's endeavors were to seize and launder between 100-800 tons of gold that haven't been recovered without acknowledging more.

As for #68 there is way to much going on there for meaningful dialog. We can try but it seems a very wide gap and previously addressed in threads.

Not discounting the Georgian store owner/employee's take but I'll run with the state's own declaration of cause which to my point reads as multifaceted and incredibly complicated and not expressly rooted in explicit racism.

Guys! In the US, it's about three times more likely that a black guy will be killed by police than a white guy. Your country was built by slaves, and when the world said, "Maybe we should ban slavery," around half of your population was so racist that they fought in wars to defend their right to rape and treat slaves like animals. The KKK is a group that rose from your southern states! Now, there's this whole ICE thing that primarily targets black people—almost exclusively—and you guys are talking about white genocide in South Africa. Do you know how many black people are facing genocide around the globe, including in Africa? (And white people dont even face genocide in South Africa at a scale even worth talking about)
Whether or not you want to be racist is your decision! But at least own up to the fact that your country is white supremacist and racist as fuck.

@Calde13
Yes, buts it's 90 percent of the time that blacks are committing the crimes. It's also true that it was blacks that sold the white people the slaves.
