That total in NE was 51 a day ago
ugly game last night but i'm happy with my preseason assessment of the two teams, although of course it's just one game. for GB, i'm optimistic if they have a better defense, like i think they do. the defense played very well last night. the offense was a mess, but we know that shouldn't be a problem. that was a huge road win for a team that has a good chance of wining that division. not sure how many games chicago is going to lose at home. the one concern is coaching. that was not a good performance by lafleur. that needs to get a lot better.
as for chicago, the defense was very good as expected. the big question was trubisky and he looked bad a lot more than he looked good. still just one game but he needs to get better if chicago wants to compete in that division. but, the defense should be good enough to keep them in just about every game.

Trubisky stinks. I’m not making that comment based from last night. It is based upon his skill set as an NFL passer. He stinks. End of story.
Rodgers passes were not crisp. He seems to have lost some zip on his fastball. While he is still one of the best QBs, the days of Rodgers being the best QB have come and gone.
Both defenses were really, really good. Thought Da Bears D looked a little better than GBs, because Trubisky had a few chances to make plays but either missed the throws or missed seeing them.
Couple stats that were pointed out last night regarding the Bears 2018 season; They had the fewest holding calls in the NFL, and (there was another one that I’m drawing a blank on this second)
We had already discussed Chicago’s defense creating TO’s and scoring TD’s, plus their lack of injuries. None of these things will be replicated this year.
Add it all up and the Bears should be over valued in the early part of the season

BigD, Aaron Jones got his touches last night. Looked like Bears keyed on him a bit. Every time Jones got a carry there were 2 LBers right on him. He just couldn’t get into any kind of rhythm.
Bears D gave the Pack O-line fits all night.

this is really bad, or seems like it. the old non-contact knee injury is usually serious. this may not be as big of a problem this weekend as KC's defense is trash, but it's still not good and will be worse against better defenses as the season goes along.

and the backup Cedric Ogbuehi is out as well. Last year it took 6 weeks before we were on the 3rd string LT. Now it's week zero. They're talking about moving backup guard Will Richardson over there. He didn't start a game last year and was usually a healthy scratch. Whatever body they put there will be lined up against Frank Clark. This is not good. Not good at all. Makes me really start to like the under total here.

A sincere "thank you" to Club for putting this thoroughly enjoyable thread together every year.
Also, very happy to see Hugh weighing in more regularly this year. A really astute football guy and I appreciate his input and sense of humor.
I'm going to play the following today:
Buffalo plus 3: I'm thinking their defense is pretty good and I like them to win the game. I'm not at all sold on the Jets coaching or quarterback.
Detroit minus 2 1/2: If Detroit can get a win on the road, it could easily be here at the expense of a very bad team.
Colts plus 6 1/2: I like their team. Not dismissing the Chargers, but simply think it is too many points.
Cowboys/Giants: Under the total of 45 1/2. I don't think either of these teams is very good. Poor coaching to boot. Run the ball and the clock into the ground.
Thanks again Club and best wishes for a great year.

PITT +6
INDY +7 Both games bet early but still only gained a half point on both. Better than nothing.
KC/JAX 1H U 25.5. One thing I've noticed in CFB Florida based games over 2 weeks is that scoring has been far more prevalent in the 2nd half. I'll try to avoid the tired defense syndrome in 95 degree weather by undering the 1st half only.
DET -2.5 I'll have to see something from Zona before I believe even a small piece of the hype. If things go the way I see it, the Cards could challenge Miami and Oakland for that #1 overall pick again next year.
BUFF +2.5 McDermott's Bills thoroughly outplayed Gase's Dolphins last year despite splitting the 2 games. The win was 42-17. They also lost 21-17 in a game they were +240 in total yardage. That's right +240. They could have replayed that game 10 times and Buffalo would have won it 9 of 10.
Hope everyone has a fine day and a successful season.

sorry fella, i forgot how sunday morning can be a shitshow over here with errands and kids, etc.
here's what I have. changed my mind on houston. going to take an arguably good team as a large dog since we can't be sure NO is a powerhouse yet. they'll probably win by 20 against that sh*t houston secondary.
good luck everyone
Atlanta +4
TB -1

i knew it. hugh jorman is actually john travolta. https://www.businessinsider.com/john-travoltas-house-is-airport-with-runways-for-planes-2014-9
and since shitty coaching is a theme this time of year, not sure if any of you watched the ULM/FSU game but i turned it on when i saw that it was close. i'm always looking to see fsu lose. that f*cking idiot ULM coach lost the game (probably) but not going to two in OT. they were moving the ball at will, on the road, they couldn't stop FSU's offense and they have a chance to end the game with a big upset by going for two and the f*cking idiot tries and extra point that misses. i'm not saying he should have known the kicker would miss (although a lot of college teams have sh*t kickers), but it's always a possibility, especially in college and when you have a big advantage on offense and just need a short gain to win, that's what you do as a small school in that situation. idiot.

mahomes misses a wide open kelce in the end zone for an easy td. last year, mahomes missed so many passes, but it doesn't seem to matter because he makes a lot of plays and that offense is so good. but if he ever gets that straightened out, which he probably will, he could be one of the best ever. jax defense looks way overmatched here. not sure marrone and this coaching staff is up to a challenge like this in week one.

KC defense looking decent, but foles makes a great throw for a td. a throw borltes would never make. the bad news is foles appears to be hurt and i've never heard of the jax backup. he's a rookie. not sure he played in college.
mahomes misses another open receiver that could have been a td. this guy misses almost as many open receivers as he hits. doesn't seem to matter.
