that once was known as "ACORN"....has reinvented itself with the help of the leftist run unions....
So ACORN changed its name. Don't most criminals come up with a new alias when they are uncovered by the law?
----------------------------------------------------------------Backed by hundreds of thousands of dollars in union donations, New York Communities for Change -- a rebranded version of the controversial organization that closed up shop amid several scandals -- is acting again as labor's attack dog on controversial issues.
NYCC took over ACORN's office on Nevins Street in Brooklyn, shares some of the same board members and uses its membership lists and other resources.
The "new" organization also fights to provide and preserve affordable housing for low-income New Yorkers.

Why are so many people against unions here? I don't get it..
Unions are what helps workers achieve higher wages, by productivity growth, deadlines, and incentives, etc....
I dont understand the point of your threads richard? You criticize unions and constantly make threads about obama;s birth certificate.
My uncle works at a power plant in delaware and is part of a union. He works his ass off and make a very good living. The union helps provide health insurance and great pensions.

Yeah I agree of course the taxpayers’ dollars shouldn’t go towards unionized workers pensions but. I wouldn’t say most of the unions are crooked thugs. There are corrupt agencies in all businesses and firms. But in all of industrial America unions are very effective at bringing the attention of very unsafe conditions, workers earning extremely low pay and enjoying little to no legal protection. They’ve worked well at helping their employers not be able exploit them through overtime wages, holiday pay, etc…
I think unions can also create other methods if incentives and gifts like certain companies do. I know starbucks and other major chains offer workers free stock options and benefits in their development and profit sharing.
If these workers that belong to unions were not granted basic health care by their employers what do you suppose they do? They would be broke if they had to pay for health care on their own and were not give insurance by their company.
And also there is such a small amount of companies nowadays that belong to unions so it’s not a major issue. Less than 10% of our workforce belongs to unions.

Rick that really is a bad generalization, because all unions arent crooks and thugs. Thats just not true. There are bad people in unions, just like there are bad people in non union type jobs.
You do know if we didnt have unions in our country, there really wouldnt be a middle class and would only be a lower class and the rich. Is that what you truly want our country to be.
Also you say unions get workers good pay for doing manual type jobs that were considered low paying jobs. Did you ever stop to think that before unions helped these workers get better pay, that all those jobs were actually being underpaid to people. Why should manual type jobs have low wages attached to them? Arent most of these manual type labor jobs actually vital to society?
Stop thinking like the rich want you to think because if they had their way they would pay everybody 5 bucks a day if they could get away with it, no matter what job you worked.
Sorry but unions serve a good dfunction in our country because without them the rich would wipe out the middle class.
Maybe if you actually got into a union, you would have a better idea of what they are about and my guess then you would be a supporter of them. 99.9 percent of the people who dont like unions are people who just dont belong to one and are usually just jealous of others. We should be trying to make unions stronger, so that the rich arent walking over the next generation of children with shit paying jobs, unless thats what you truly want for your kids. Dont think for one minute that most companies will look out for them, because they most certainly wont

Rick,
If you could change things in the country to anything you want, what would the 10 things you would change to how you feel our country should be like.

Most people don't like unions because they promote inefficient labor policies and cost all citizens more money in higher taxes. Look at the most inefficient, bloated sectors of our economy and you will find one thing in common... unionized labor. Auto industry, education, police, fire fighters, federal and state employees. Unions promote a non-competitive wage and unrealistic benefits. What Fortune 500 company can you retire from at 50 or 55 after working for 25 years? Why in 2010 for the first time in history did the federal government have more people making 6 figure incomes than the private sector?
I will agree that unions are good for the people in them, who doesn't want to be overpaid with benefits that are ridiculously out of line with comparable positions in the private sector? Unfortunately they aren't good for everyone else that isn't in them, because it's a zero sum game and someone else has to pay for those benefits and higher pay... usually it's the tax payer.

Well, I see that once again a post went right over your head. The thread was started to fucking bash ACORN, hence my quip about acorns you asshat. As for the organization, i couldn't give a shit how it is doing one way or the other. It was just an advocacy group for the urban poor that you chuckleheads demonized, and the same work will be done under another name. The thought of you doing medical research is terrifying.

You keep saying overpaid. So you would rather see the employee making less and the corporation making more, thats some great logic
Did you ever stop to think that the private sector is getting fucked by the rich guys paying them less, because they dont have a union as a voice to get them more money.
Its nice to know that you are in favor of people should be paid lowered wages so the fatcats can earn even more cash, outstanding
If some of you would justv step back and take the blinders off, you might realize that the workers in the private sector are getting screwed with lower wages by the fatcats. So instead of trying to get the private sector to pay you guys more, instead your pissed off and think the union guys should make less.
lastly what jobs are you comparing the private sector to the union jobs?
