The Saints played a very emotional game against the 49ers Sunday. San
Francisco had their number last two seasons and New Orleans really
wanted to change that. Anyone who watched the game knows that it
looked/felt like a playoffs game, with lots of hard hitting, and many
momentum swings. The game was tied up twice, both teams led on two
separate occasions, and Saints won it on a last second field goal.
Actually the Saints scored three straight field goals to win it by 3
after trailing by 6 with just under 8 minutes left in the game. You just
dont see that happen all that often. The Saints turned the ball over 3
times in the game so they had to work twice as hard as they usually do
to win a game. They won by only 3 but they dominated the first downs
(23:12), the time of possession (34:39 vs 25:21) and D.Brees outpassed
C.Kaepernick by almost 180 yards. They had to play extremely hard to get
that close win. The Saints are probably a little bit out of gas and
playing on the road on 3 days of rest is not easy in any situation. They
have not been on the road a whole lot lately, and they are still not
really impressive on the road. Their road record is 2-2, and they were
not really impressive in any road game in a while, going back to last
season when they went 3-5 away from home. Last season they went to
Atlanta 3 days after hosting SF and they lost that game. They trailed
17-0 early in the 2nd and they never really challenged the Falcons. Sure
the Falcons were a much better team last season, but it was still
D.Brees worst game of his career as he threw no touchdowns and 5
interceptions. Atlanta has nothing to lose, no pressure on them at all,
as they are not going anywhere this season. Their first 7 losses this
season came against 7 teams that are still fighting for a playoffs spot.
Last week they lost against a TB team coming off of their first win but
also off of two really good games against superior teams. No excuses
for Atlanta for that loss. The positive is that they showed some pride
once they faced a humiliating loss. Down 38-6 they started showing some
pulse and outscored the Bucs 22-3 the rest of the way. Hopefully they
will start the TNF game with some pride and anger, or they will hear it
from the home crowd on national TV. My selective approach play is
Atlanta +9.5.
I am the only remaining undefeated team in the NFL (Just kidding with the haters). Lets keep on winning. Good luck.

Dude, awesome year. Love your write ups and it pains me to see you on Atlanta. But all your points are valid and if I may add something to it...Saints are 0-4 in Thursday Night Football games. BOL to you the rest of the season. May you remain undefeated.

Atlanta is mailing it in now. They want to secure the good pick. Their defense is absolutely atrocious. Look what Rainey did to them. Embarrassing. Roddy is still hurt. Gonzo is hurt. SJax is a shell of his former self. I agree Saints have not been getting it done on the road anywhere near like at home......but if they can't get this one done, they are truly pretenders. They should be able to get the win in a dome. I'm taking them on the money line.

Agree! In a dome, divisional game, Falcons cant stop anybody, and don't care to try. Saints have a decent defense and one of the most potent offenses. Saints will cover 8.5 which is what I got today!

Don't know about the double D's....but I'm not going to be swayed today by what I read. Saints on there worst day should beat Atlanta who as you said, are just mailing it in now.
