Lets talk about the real issue for KC missing both of their All Pro offensive tackles in Eric Fisher and Matt Schwartz and how the effect their game planning
We can discuss Claw's century old numbers system all day but what the game really comes down to is matchups and how missing key personnel may affect a game flow and outcome. KC will be missing both offensive tackles and Im sure Tampa is ready to take advantage of this to get after Mahomes. Vea is back for Tampa also and couple that with a tall defensive end like JPP knocking passes down Mahomes will have difficulty with the pressure Tampa can put on him.

You make it sound like there will be only 3 offensive lineman for KC. There will be 2 very large men playing those positions, just with different names. SF had a better defense and pass rush last year than TB does, and we know what happened there.
Escape ability. You'll see me use these words again. No one has been better outside the pocket throwing the ball than Mahomes, hands down. His stats are ridiculously good. The bigger concern will be the Bucs line protecting Brady. The Chiefs sacked the big, strong, athletic, and mobile Josh Allen 4 times for 53 yards, and Brady isn't any of those things.

I think you are overlooking the loss of Fisher. All pro starting left tackles arent just replaced by “other big men”. Just dismissing the oline issues as no big deal is very risky. I made the same mistake backing greenbay thinking bahkiatari loss was no big deal. Their left tackle was beat all day and aaron had no room to escape. Aaron is not immobile. Yes mahomes is more mobile at this point but it will definitely be a factor. Yes Mahomes Wouldve cashed in on those brady interceptions unlike rodgers who came up a bit small. Buccs front is top of the line. Is it as good as san frans? No I doubt they will have mahomes as bad as last superbowl but he wont just be Slingin it all up and down
Also all those sacks on Allen you pointed out, a big factor was Allen was not giving what the defense was giving him. He had the check down allll day. He finally adjusted but it was too late. They played Alleb perfectly knowing he would force deep throws. Brady will not do this

No disrespect to Fisher, and Schwartz has been out since November, I hear you. Looks like Mike Remmers will probably start at LT. He's a wily veteran who has been a starter in this league since 2015, including at LT for Carolina in 2016, a team TB would have played twice that year. Andy Heck, OL coach has plenty of confidence in his guys. They've also been interchanging at all the OL positions in practice so they are as prepared as they can possibly be. And 2 words for Tom Brady, Frank Clark, who seems like he's on cruise control...until the playoffs.

Good info on the backup Russo. Thanks for your thoughts as well. I agree the oline will be prepared well. KC coaching staff is elite. I also agree it will boil down to the dline/oline matchups. Football is won in the trenches as simple as it sounds lol. I keep going back and forth on both sides. Ill prob wait for a juicy ingame opportunity. I think it will be an epic game. Frank Clark is a beast. Buccs oline has peaked at the right time as well. They have been allowed to hold however on crucial drives Excited to see the battles.

One of the key factors to this game! I have been thinking about. If they allow offensive holding like they did all year, I give an edge to the Chiefs.

I have a feeling we will be complaining about this after the game. I agree it is a way the refs can neutralize the pass rush for either side and provide an extra edge. Only question is will they favor one side over the other? Or allow both? I can see an agenda for wanting either team to be champs. Theres no denying the refs favoring of Brady throughout the years. Doesnt take away from his greatness but he has had ref backing. That defense holding INT against greenbay was criminal. I think they like to back Brady because he is such a sure thing and always comes through. However I can also see the agenda of “passing the torch” to mahomes as future face of NFL. Mahomes has shownbrady type clutchness poise more so then any other qb. Is it his time this year to start the dynasty talk? Pro sports love dynastys. They always have, its good storylines and ratings. Another thing to think about is there is a great chance both teams are back next year in this game for a rematch.

Couldn’t agree more. From everything I have read and heard, if the NFL could have its way, it would be for the Chiefs to win a thriller. Mahomes is the future and Tom is the past.

They do in every single game. It's all linemen do to each other all game.

you are correct Chic - every play but if you keep those hands on the inside you'll be just fine.... hands on the outside and good chance you're getting called

FYI: Since Patrick Mahomes took over as the starting quarterback in 2018, the Chiefs are 5-0 straight up in games Cheffers has refereed: Week 10, 2018 – Chiefs beat visiting Cardinals 26-14 Week 1, 2019 – Chiefs won 40-26 in Jacksonville Week 16, 2019 – Chiefs won 26-3 in Chicago Week 2, 2020 – Chiefs won 23-20 in OT at Chargers Week 11, 2020 – Chiefs won 35-31 at Las Vegas
Having said this, I watched both games that Cheffers officiated and they were ugly penalty games, especially for the Chiefs. I believe he called 20-21 penalties in those two games on the Chiefs for almost 200 yards!! Cheffers managed/controlled both those games to make sure the games were tight and competitive. The Raiders game was on national TV, so it’s easy to see what the agenda was there, but not sure why he picked on KC in the Chargers game. It was brutal the way he handicapped KC in that game with questionable penalties. Watching the game I thought it was extremely shady. Nonetheless, the Chiefs won.

BB- if we use last years SB as a guide, KC OLINE was given the green light to hold, grab, pull, without any impunity the entire game. It was sickening to watch. KC O line was not called for a single holding penalty that entire game -vs- the BEST D line in the game with SF. How is that possible? same O line was called for 3 holding penalty’s vs a random game with the Raiders earlier in this season...
I guess it depends on who the league wants to win.

Ah, now I remember what the agenda was in the Chargers game!
“The Bolts will christen their new SoFi Stadium home the following week on Sunday, Sept. 20 against the AFC West-rival Kansas City Chiefs.”
This is always a big deal for teams and owners, playing their first game in a new stadium, even if fans were not invited.

They haven't had Schwartz for most of the year. SO it isn't like they lost both OT's this week. Fisher out is HUGE - especially vs. this D line. But who's the best QB in the league against the blitz? Mahomes, 96.4 QBR and 17TD's to 0 INTs. The chiefs have the perfect WRs and TE to bust zone or man, with quick screens, slants, mesh routes, etc.
So maybe the Bucs get home with 4 instead of needing to blitz at all. Mahomes isn't a statue. He can evade and throw from any angle. If you double Kelce and Hill then Hardman and Watkins (if he's back and healthy its huge) can eat up LB's and corner #4 for the Bucs.
The Bucs secondary has been had this year in big moments. I still don't think that group is elite. We all saw and heard the grabbing of Packers WRs last week. That will NOT happen in this Superbowl. This is the Brady vs. Mahomes show. The league wants an offensive super fest. How entertaining would a 35-34 back and forth, anything you can do I can better old/young man game be? The league wants that.

finnryan22...great post and totally agree that the over in a high scoring game is what the shady NFL wants with their ratings tanking and old sponsors leaving. World Wrestling Entertainment will focus their refs on enabling a high scoring outcome with plenty of noncalls for holding etc...it will be like Crusher Lisowski going up against Buddy Rogers back in the day.

If you had to up against a truly elite QB and passing attack what would you do? Like most others, we gotta' keep them off the field. I expect a high dose of Jones and Fournette and short quick passes. Just move the chains. That is unless they fall behind early like they did in the previous meeting. Jones and Fournette are formidable and should be able to move the chains, at least intermittently. And I expect KC to mix in the run more with TB being more protective of their suspect secondary. Mahomes was 37 of 49 the previous meeting and enough yards to build his own neighborhood. He won't throw it 40 times this game. Really leaning Under on this total, 56, which again looks like the popular play, much like last year, total 54, 51 points scored. I faded the public on the total last year, this time it may actually be a thought out decision.

Really leaning Under on this total, 56, which again looks like the popular play, much like last year, total 54, 51 points scored. I faded the public on the total last year, this time it may actually be a thought out decision.

@finnryan22 If you had to up against a truly elite QB and passing attack what would you do? Like most others, we gotta' keep them off the field. I expect a high dose of Jones and Fournette and short quick passes. Just move the chains. That is unless they fall behind early like they did in the previous meeting. You make sense on a lot of points. TB ran the ball really well last 2 weeks - and that of course helps keep Mahomes off the field. But teams that run the ball effectively and with ideal passing matchups on play action tend to move the chains and get points. Yes, this keeps the clock moving, but it typically leads to points on the board which outweighs a moving clock when it comes to hitting the total. I disagree however on Chiefs running the ball very much. Some draws mixed in absolutely. Some end arounds and shovels. But I think Mahomes is throwing the ball 40+ times again for sure. The bucs are just too stout to run against, other than mixing it in to keep them honest. I think both teams catch fire on the scoreboard at some point. Last year was a weird game... Chiefs didn't wake up till late. I don't see them wanting a repeat of that although as we saw all last year in playoffs and last week against Bill it doesn't matter if that happens they can score 17-21 points on 3 straight drives. The public isn't always wrong... I see a 34-30 game.
