Denver -13.5 over KC
In his last two starts before getting hurt, Patrick Mahomes had 0 TDs and 3 INTs. Offensively, KC had 4.3, and 4.1 Yards per Play in those games. Now, backup QB Gardner Minshew is also injured, and Chris Oladokun who threw his first NFL pass last week gets his first NFL start. The Chiefs generated only 133 yards of offense, at 3.1 YPP in their 26-9 loss to the then 2-12 Titans.
KC doesn't have much of a running game to fall back on. #1 WR Rashee Rice is also injured and will miss the last two games of the season. With their current active roster, the AFC defending champion Chiefs may well be the worst team in the NFL. It seems unlikely that the Chiefs will be able to generate any kind of offense against the stingy Broncos defense. That is why they are 13.5 point home dogs today.
Denver has a lot at stake here. A loss here could cost them HF advantage in the playoffs, a first round bye, and even the division crown. They need to stay a game in front of the Chargers. They will not take this game lightly. After many years of losing every game to the Mahomes led Chiefs, they've finally beaten KC 4 times in a row (3 with Mahomes) In week 18 last season, the Chiefs rested Mahomes, and other key starters, and Denver beat them 38-0 in KC. I expect a very similar result today. KC has lost 4 in a row and 6 of their last 7 games. Their offense looks completely inept. They've got a 3rd string QB, and a 3rd string LT going against an elite Bronco defense that is 1st in the NFL in sacks. The Denver "D" has recorded 63 sacks this season - that's 13 more than 2nd place Atlanta. This one will get ugly.
