But he’s taken a dive before. He was what 33 or so playing the warriors able to close out and sit out cause of a thigh bruise I mean good fuvkinggg Grief that’s pathetic and obvious. There is such thing as fixing in sports look at some old nfl players that played 12-15 years ago they talk about it like Larry johnson. He is too good. Today the only reason he got ten is he scored like 3 shots last three drives he touched the ball towards the end of the game before he was let rest cause they were down 40. After the first loss I talked about this. That expression sucks imo also I wasn’t pissing on his grave. But imo he is a fake competitor when it really matters. All about the money
You think he's too good but he's not. He's 37. He has looked old for the past few seasons. He was able to utilize a lot of "gamesmanship" on both ends of the floor in years past that the league has cracked down on this season. He used to push off to create space on almost every drive and jumpshot. The league in calling more offensive fouls now across the board but especially on known egregious offenders like Chris Paul and Giannis. You take the ability to extend the arm to create space and you have a sub 6 foot guard with 37 year old legs. He isn't elevating over anyone nor is he exploding to the hole.
On defense, Paul has always been known to defend his position well but again, he has always been handsy. They are calling a lot of that fouls now, as they always should have. You take away his ability to be handsy and all you have is a 37 year old sub 6 foot defender. There aren't really any good 6 foot defenders in the modern era. You need length to be a great NBA defender. Even a guy like Pat Bev, who is slightly longer than Paul, isn't what I'd call a great defender. He's a pesky defender. A nuisance. An annoyance.
As far as scoring 30, that's an anomaly for Paul. That's never really been his game, even in his youth. He's a traditional distributor/facilitator point that can at times give you 30, but isn't meant to be the primary scorer a la Steph Curry, nor be a distributor/1a or 1b scoring option a la someone like a Steve Nash.
Jason Kid said in his post game interview, as BB spoke to, that the plan was to make him work at both ends of the floor. And they did. It's funny, it really was the tail of two leaders. Outside of Paul, Phoenix is actually the younger team. Dallas is full of 30 year type guys. Dinwiddie. Powell. Finney-Smith. Bertens. Kleber. Yet they looked young, fast, and loose all series. It starts with their young leader. Phoenix looked so old and slow at times this series, with the exception of Bridges, who's always flying around, but also inconsistent offensively.
Paul is old. He looked old. Phoenix exploited it. It was the Sun's undoing. Except for Booker, that isn't a team set up for guys to be getting their own shots. They need a point to run that offense. And their point is technically old enough to be a grandfather. I dead ass know grandfather's his age.
Do you even understand the game of basketball? Do you even follow the NBA, or do you tune in around playoff time and say that guys are shaving because you don't even understand what you're watching?
