I could agree except that the Giants loss in Game 5 to the worst team in Baseball to have loss to has still left a bad taste in my mouth.

The Detroit Tigers sign Eduardo Rodriquez to a 5 year deal.
https://www.mlive.com/tigers/2021/11/tigers-officially-announce-eduardo-rodriguez-signing.html
This team means business, and I think the rebuild will "rebuild" quicker than most expect. AJ Hinch had these dudes playing with purpose last year.
A few more pieces with youngsters coming up should have Detroit fans with something to look forward to in the near future.
And how can we forget about Funkhouser? We ridiculed him in Spring training, and he played great during the regular season.

I think that my "fade" team could be the Seattle Mariners.
They outperformed their metrics by a mile last year.

Cool read. Not to poo poo any Mariners fans and their excitement, but I just think that their luck is not sustainable. They did have a decent starting rotation and a good bullpen. That's what kept em in games.
They hit lefty's well. It's just too bad that it's estimated that only about 11% of the world's population is left handed. All though that # is higher in baseball since lefty's are highly coveted. About 25% of pitchers are lefty. And 35% of hitters are lefty(to combat the majority of righties). Yes, pitching "well" is harder than hitting "well".
Seattle played 83 games decided by 1 or 2 runs in 2021, 2nd-most in the American League behind the New York Yankees (89)…the Mariners went 51–32 (.614) in those games, with their .614 winning percentage ranking 2nd-highest in the AL and 3rd-highest in the Majors behind San Francisco (.630, 51–30) and the Yankees (.618, 55–34).
The Mariners became just the 4th club in Major League history to finish a season above .500 despite being outscored by 50 runs…Seattle’s run differential was -51.
I haven't looked into who they are retaining, losing, or their prospects yet.

Last thing before bed, I think the Blue Jays are borderline insane if they let Robbie Ray walk. Open up that check book ay...
He finished 13-7 and led the American League in ERA (2.84), WHIP (1.045), starts (32), innings pitched (193.1), strikeouts (248), and ERA+ (154). All for 8 million last year. I think Gerrit Cole made 8 million per week for the Yankees.
You know that your bullpen sucks. You can never have enough pitching. Sign him, then look for some releivers. Don't be cheap, your division is hard AF.

Thought the same thing. Better keep both. In the AL East it's a spending frenzy minus the Rays. And teams have tried to do "the Rays", but it don't work.

I leave for a month and this place falls apart. What a bunch of retard critters. Sac is in violation of parole and JEG wants to know how attractive the jail-bait is (when he isn't whining about his collapsible-foldable Giants). Prurient interest abounds. Big D don't know Berrios from berry jelly.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, important questions remain. Will all the geniuses (us) rebound from a less-than-piss-poor season to reclaim glory or simply continue to wallow in mediocrity?
Will the Atlanta Cowards again save their money for trading day deadline and get lucky again, or just become the latest one-year-wonder?
Who will the guy that won 900K on Ohtani for MVP pick next? (Rumor on the street says Clyde Caddidlehopper).
The Yankees will again be LOADED (everyone knows that) but have they already booked their vacation plans for October (as is is customary)?
Will the billionaires versus millionaires argument (laughingly called negotiations) reach a settlement in time for a full season?
Will the new "agreement" justify $10 hot dogs and $20 beers?
Will the world famous handicapper KeyElement retain enough cognitive ability to once again make an ass out of himself or is 76 the age of senility? (Some would venture at 75 or earlier, but the jury is still out).
These and many other worthless, irrelevant, and unnecessary questions will be answered in the next episode of SOAP.

@KeyElement
Welcome back, it's good to see you. You can type, that's all we need from you. Senility be damned.
The Astros agree to a 1 year 25 million dollar deal with Justin Verlander.
The Tigers and AJ Hinch were interested in Carlos Corea. They met for breakfast to talk. Recent reports saying that the Tigers just couldn't afford him. He wants 30 mill per year for 10 years. I can see only the Yankees being able to dish out that kind of cash.
Javier Baez, Trevor Story and Marcus Semien are their next targets.
Has anyone noticed all of the free agents leaving the A's? Talk about a $ dump(or unwillingness to pay), but we expect no less from the A's.
We haven't recapped the WS yet. One stat that stood out is this: Of the 12 starters used in 6 games, only 6 were able to complete 3 innings.
I have no words. When will the day come when we are handicapping bullpens first, and treating the starter how we treat bullpens now?
Speaking of bullpens, PETA wants to change the name of the "bullpen" to the Arm Farm. Because it's insensitive to bulls. This is not a joke.

Nice to see you're well Key
I shall do my part and report on the Dankees. In order for them to be LOADED, again and like it's tradition, they had to UNLOAD some guys, so Clit Frazier, Odor and Wade have been DFAed. Yankees may offer Judge an extension contract. Also, the Gleyber Torres SS experiment seems to be coming to an end, given the slew of SS available to sign, the Yankees have contacted some of them may go for a big signing.
Btw Key, if senility comes with this level of writing skills, I can't wait to reach it myself...

"The Astros agree to a 1 year 25 million dollar deal with Justin Verlander."
Might turn out to be cheap. A year off? Good health? Who knows?
"He wants 30 mill per year for 10 years. I can see only the Yankees being able to dish out that kind of cash."
George is dead and they don't that anymore. Also, ALL teams are soured on 10 year contracts. BOL Carlos
Interesting about starter/bullpen stuff. Most teams realize they put too much emphasis on bp's the last 20 years and are concerned about starters that give them 5 or 6 solid innings and 25+ starts per year. This year may an exception, but most teams that have gone all the way recently did did so with solid starters.
PETA has always been nuttier than Califruity, but political correctness may win another mini-victory (puke).

Addition by subtraction.
I also read that they will be bringing back Brett Gardner. Why...just cut the umbilical all ready. He never does anything.

I don't think they will bring back Gardy, since they've declined to exercise the club option, they had for 2022. You may have read that his representatives, conveyed he wants to play next season. Hicks will play in the Dominican Winter League, so I highly doubt they will bring Gardy back, his career as a Yankee should be over.
Odor was brought to make Sanchez look good, and it kinda worked. Instead of a SS, I'd much rather prefer a competent catcher, Higgy is a decent back-up, but to have him catch you ace (Cole), because Gary can't block a pitch in the dirt is ridiculous...

Alec Mills 50.9%, Justin Steele 50.3%, Wade Miley 49.3%, Adbert Alzolay 44.9%, Kyle Hendricks 43.1%
The Cubs projected starting rotation and their ground ball rates. Just the recipe you need for pitching at Wrigley.

Yeah, I think they know it too, but they kept him because his power used to make up, for his defensive blunders, but in the last couple of seasons it wasn't the case anymore, I think he was top 3 in passed balls, in the majors. Looks like NY wants to hire 3 hitting coaches, because if they missed anything, last season, that was hitting, which used to be their strong spot.
Speaking of JEG, it's weird he didn't mention Posey retiring, which was kinda of a shocker tbh. The guy decided to go while he was on top, not that he needed to prove anything, those 3 WS speak for themselves...

I will have a great deal to contribute in the near future. Whether or not any of it is valuable I will leave to the judgment of others. As for today, 6:10 P.M. MST is sundown, at which my brain also shuts down. Good night.
Yankees suck. G. Cole plus any other four healthy arms does not equal a pitching rotation. Keep hiring sluggers and you keep losing 8-7 instead of winning 4-3. They do score well for "style points" though.
