Sorry to hear about your father. Been down that road myself with my Dad a few years ago and it sucks.
Sometimes I feel the meds make things way worse.
I hope your dad makes a quick turnaround and that things improve soon.
Hang in there!
So here is the deal......... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confabulation
I think he's stuck in a time warp....sad but at least he seems happy with it. He grew up in Virginia, and yesterday asked about his first wife...who he married at age 21. He's been married to my mother for 30+ years.
Sad, but at least he's somewhere familiar in his mind. Trying to see if there is a way to snap him out of this...it's absolutely unbelievable.

Unfortunately, I have some experience with this. I am not sure the nature of your Dad's diagnosis nor am I asking. Unfortunately, old age sucks and I have seen elderly people deal with dementia, alzheimers and Parkinsons. From what I have learned and witnessed, all can cause cofabulation. The brain is a funny thing which we don't totally understand. In many elderly people, the brain starts going back in time and regressing. Often a elderly person's long term memory will work better than the short term memory. I have witnessed people who can remember things and details from 50 years ago but can't remember what you talked about 30 seconds earlier. I have seen elderly people make up things but 100% totally believe them as the truth. If you think about it, with some elderly people, their brains regress to the point of childhood and they sometimes can no longer control their bodily functions and sometimes they forget how to walk. The brain can circle back in time to childhood. Unfortunately, some of the meds they use for these things can have terrible side effects. The best advice I was given is don't get frustrated with the elderly person and don't constantly correct them and try to bring then to reality. Often times, you are better off just "yessing" them and then changing the subject.

I really am finding myself loving the first 2 of the day. I think SD is exactly the type of lineup Dempster can strike 10+ out and dominate, and I think that the Tribe's injuries can (and will) catch up to them today as the Royals train keeps on (trying to) roll along.
