Yea. IDK how many more dumb questions I can ask here. Without sounding any less dumb.
ERA numbers are useless.
Thanks
@Rhub
I'll be addressing this in my season thread soon,
but 4 tools/stats of which I weigh the highest are:
1/ MUST have at least 5 starts of stats, preferably 6, or PASS on him until he does!!!
2/ MUST *NOT* be on a hot streak of at least 7 consecutive starts WITHOUT a BAD outing!
3/ WHIP stat!!!
4/ Against whom has he achieved his stats to date?? Were they mostly against creampuff offenses? or was he forced to face an inordinate number of starts against really GOOD BATTING TEAMS? Huge difference!
My 2024 MLB: 186 - 117 61.5% ...juice from 117 losses only -13,328

Thanks Fubah2 I got the last leg of s parlay which is Braves ML tonight I Know the Rockies are trash this year but any team can win on any given night and playing @ Colorado scares me a little with how balls tend to carry there due to the high elevation should I let it ride? With the Braves on a pretty good run even with losing last night and the Rockies not doing so great to put it lightly what would you do sir? Thanks

Starting pitcher plays a big role, in set lines, you see this often with pitchers with great stats, even when on a mediocre team. The public recognizes household names and bet based on this, inflating numbers. With that being said, starting pitching is not like the old days. These pitchers have pitch counts, barely making it into the 6th..... And bullpens can blow any incentive the starters gave you.
Good Luck

@Wildcat25
It depends. My philosophy remains consistent this way:
*IF* one is a truly GOOD/WINNING handicapper, then stand pat. The odds favor such a handicapper on any of his selections inside a parlay.

@HossXXX
EXCELLENT POINT!

Play 1st 5 innings only thus taking the bullpens out if the equation (for the most part). Look at splits, whip, home runs allowed. Look at last three starts as a whole (both home and away)

Thank you.
My early years of capping seemed easier when the pitchers went 6+ and you seen a reliever, then the closer. Now we are seeing on avg. 4+ pitchers from the pen per game, from both teams, wayyy to many variables at that point.
Most recent i seen was last night PHLLY @ CHC- Both starters went 7 innings each 1 ERA.. And the game ended 3-1. But here his the kicker
CHC brought in 3 relief pitchers (4 total) and they give up 5 walks in less than 3 innings before imploding and PHILLY scores 2 runs on 1 Hit/Sac Fly
Merryweather- single-handedly blew that game, even though Taillon pitches a decent game
Thank you.

Always use a Canadian quarter for Toronto home games when flipping.
Real talk home road splits for starters can be very useful for sides and totals little deeper into the season. Bullpens rest MLB app is good for this click story on a matchup. Just general team Bullpen ERA ranking. There is always few teams really good or bad vs lefties that is easy to look over.

In the range of 1 to 3 times per week on average, beginning in early May.
I will continue to post my "HOT STREAK" alerts in my season-thread as they arise.
