OK, whose side you going to take in this one?
An off-duty Chicago police officer injured a 4-year-old girl with his motorcycle, and then shot and killed her outraged father.
Did the father have a weapon? No.
Did he show his badge? We don't know.
Was he off duty? Yes. (required to carry however).
Did he have mic access for backup? No.
Was his life threatened? Reads that way.
1st glance a veteran of 7+ years handles that without the use of a lethal shot.

Story reads as if the police officer clearly had an unfortunate accident. Every attempt was made by him to bring in all units for the child. He was attacked by the father with intent to kill.
Shoot at the extremeties would be a good plan however we don't know how violent the man was. Cop may have not have had any chance. Sad story.
An accident went ape shot.

What an idiot parent. Instead of looking for a medical doctor he tries to aggravate the situation. Completely his fault. A toddler running the streets at 10:30 PM. Hopefully the girl is okay.

I know this little stretch of area/street very well, and I will tell you that young children darting into the street is a common occurence, no matter what time of day. Keep in mind the speed limit on this stretch is 40 MPH, and is heavily trafficked daily. I back this cop 100% here. He tried to avoid an accident, suffered injuries because of it, and then has these 2 lowlife deadbeats start pummeling him.

Be intresting to see the autop toxicology on deceased dad and alive cousin. -200 they were both high an drunk as hell.
Props to the off duty gentlemen. His #1 priority was the well being of that child. 911 would have delivered all units and air lift if he wasn't getting the crap beaten out of him.
