Texas will win this game. They have been preparing for this BYU game since the start of camp (unofficially). That's why they stunk it up in the first half against lowly NM ST. Then there manhood was questioned, and they came out in the 2nd half and TCB. Texas was looking ahead to BYU. On pure talent there is no comparison. And honestly, Ole Miss looked good against Vandy, but most Texas homers believe BYU will be a better challenge prima facie than Ole Miss. Texas matches up better against Ole Miss than they do against BYU. BYU has a new QB and an overrated D in my opinion.
Texas 31
BYU 17

"Talk me out of taking Texas " - Okay. At least consider the following for a possible trap game.
I am not playing either side yet but I am leaning to BYU for the following:
1. Everything everyone has said about Texas on this forum is 100% accurate. So is everything they have said about BYU. The problem I have with these kinds of analyses are they are way too obvious.
Linemakers have forgotten more than the combined knowledge of everyone on this post. They have to be that sharp or they would not be in business. And they thought -4.5 was a good opener, knowing full well the Texas backers would drive it up. I think Texas backers may be walking into a classic trap.
2. Masters of the Obvious - Of course, Texas is better than BYU. Of course Texas has better athletes. Of course BYU is not up to last year's team.
You think the linemakers may know this too??? Do you think Vegas is in business to make Covers Forum posters rich with easy winners that literally scream "BET TEXAS. BYU REALLY SUCKED LAST WEEK"
Do you think BYU may be embarrassed and pissed off as hell for their home opener at 5000 feet? Do you think Texas rolling NMSU is impressive ? One of the real bottom feeders and it was tied at half !!!
3. Line opened at Texas -4.5 ( BetOnline) and went to -7.5 before backing down to -7. 85% of bets on Texas. 90% of parlay action on Texas ( typically very square money and especially so at 90% - This is nosebleed level even for parlay bettors). You think the bookies opened at -4.5 because they know less than all you guys here? Yes, some of you probably think so but I disagree.
Hey, I want to make it clear I am passing this game for now. But I will always avoid trying to walk into a trap and this could very well be a big money maker for the books.

Never under estimate the "perception" factor which can influence lines. Here is an example. The Boise St/ Washington game. Based on talent, the Huskies should have been a 7-10 point favorite. Perception kept that line where is was. Betters are like elephants-long memories. I was very nervous betting against the Broncos cause of perception.
BYU at home is another example. They have been very good at home and they have had some good talent for quite a few years now. Texas has been a hit or miss proposition with bettors.
I think this line is right where it belongs. It also is possible the guys who set the lines for a living know the Cougar best WR is gonna play. I have seen nothing concrete on his status. If he is healthy, it changes the whole complexion of this game.
