i agree he is a horrible coach, but the guy can recruit.
they are 1-1. they host BC next, win. then comes utah state who is sneaky good, but likely a win. that will make them 3-1 heading into the meat of the pac 12.
AD pat haden is a thoughtful person he is not going to pull the trigger on firing lane until after the season or at best late in the season.
firing a coach at a record of 1-1 just does not happen unless there is a player mutiny, and last i checked there is not.

Plenty of people would love to have that job now- USC gets recruits on reputation alone. Put an assistant as interim coach and at the end of the year several big names will take a look at that job -

Lol they wont beat Utah St. dummy. USC sucks so does Kiffin. They dont have the talent to run that pro style offense. Marquise Lee cant wait to leave these scrubs.

when the job became available after paul hackett was fired, they were lucky to land pete carroll but must people did not think he'd do well.
after carroll left, multiple people including mike riley and chris peterson turned down offers to even interview for it let alone take the job.
no big name wants the job. none.
I don't buy it..............for 1, Peterson & Riley turn down every offer they get to go somewhere else..........they're happy where they're at. They hired LK back to try to keep the PC era alive after he left so abruptly for the pros..........keep the momentum. LA isn't my fav place but I'm sure if they axe LK after this season they'll have plenty of coaches interested in the position. Sure, they're not gonna hire Saban away from bama or anything like that.......but it's one of the premier jobs in CFB, the sanctions will be done, & I'm sure they'll get a lot of interest.

Mugg are you aware that chris peterson interviewed with ucla before saying no but he did not even entertain usc's request to interview him. Lane was not even in usc's top 5 wish list but since they had so much trouble getting interest from big names that they settled for lane.
Look at the list of coaches since john mckay.
John robinson
Tedd tollner
Larry smith
Paul hackett
Pete carroll. (Turned out great but dont tell me he was a big name)

The USC approach came when the investigation was looming, & CP had just signed an extension. The UCLA "interview" was an offer he just rejected. Bottom line....he was never gonna leave.
No one is a big name until they are.............Don James was the HC @ Kent when Washington hired him.......a nobody..........& is now in the HOF. Nick Saban wasn't a big name when LSU hired him..........I think you get my point. Very few times does a program get lucky when hiring a HC.

you do not understand. Nick Saban was a huge up and comer in the coaching ranks as he lead Mich State to 10 wins in the 2000 season which was their best record in years even better than george perles could do.
what did Kiffin ever do besides lead Tennessee to a 6-6 record and do nothing for the Oakland Raiders?
continuity or keeping momentum with LK when he had not been there since 2006? then hired as HC 4 years later? that's momentum?
NO. momentum is when you have a COACH ON YOUR STAFF that you promote, not bringing back a CO-Offensive Coordinator who had been gone 4 years and did nothing at the 2 head coaching stops he had.
USC hired Kiffin because NO ONE ELSE of any significant ilk wanted the job, and he packaged himself with his dad and Ed Orgeron, that's it.
sorry but i know too many people who follow the program 100X closer than you do and we are all in agreement.
next year when they get another no name you can come back here and apologize for your ignorance.

lets play devils advocate. you've basically alreayd crowned USC as the winner this wknd and next. What if BC and Utah State upset USC is kiffin on the hot seat then?
if you watched the game and saw the BC game against Wake there is a very strong possibility that the youth of USC and the mistakes they make due to poor coaching will bite them in the behind against BC. I mean at this point USC doesnt even have fundamentals down and just keep making stupid mistake after stupid mistake. Yes the mistakes made are easily correctable but they havent been corrected yet and it will be week 3.
