That's exactly where I am on Tennessee, very one dimensional. Their offense may be good enough where it won't matter a lot of the time but if it ever sputters: couple turnovers, dropped passes, or negative plays they could be in trouble. I still like UT to be good but I could see them struggling against physical offenses like Bama, UGA, and Kentucky.

Oh yeah Tenn could have a great record this year and just drain everyone's wallets in the process .. and their stock really goes to the moon if we see Pitt handle WV and then Vols show up at Pitt and just everything is working right for them, big monster revenge road 'we're finally back after 20 years of frustration' statement win ..
I could see that happen I mean coach was prob in diapers the last time the Vol's over hyped pre season rankings still looked for real all the way thru non-con play so that would be a huge win for them 3-0 big favs with Florida coming to town, they might have already lost to Utah and who knows maybe even lost or struggled with Kentucky too by then ... Would def lean UF + points in that scenario lol ..

ha yeah .. well full disclosure sometimes my pre-ssn visions of exactly when a team will start sucking don't quite pan out how I think they will lol ..

@wolfeman3 Clark Lea is fired up about coaching this team for sure. Basically you're asking can Vandy beat Hawaii, Elon, and Northern Illinois or pull a shocker somewhere else in the schedule? It's honestly really hard to say; they could start 2-0 and then lose the last 10. 2.5 is a low total but I don't have the faith that Vandy can win @NIU. 2 wins (and Hawaii is a borderline toss-up), 1 toss-up, and 9 losses. I would prefer to feel more comfortable before placing a RSW on Vandy. Slight lean towards the under if I had a gun to my head.
Even with Vanderbilt, I just don't think I could take that under.

The last time Vols were good, their coach was taking snaps at OU.

Yeah it's a pass for me. Lea has done a good job of raiding the transfer portal and actually returns some decent production but I think Vandy is a year away from being "pesky" again where they pull 1-2 upsets every year.

Im trying to get a feel for teams this year, I think there a quite a few with too high of expectations in the SEC this year from last years performance.. and by history it would tell you that with teams like Florida and Auburn being left for dead in everyones minds, that they will be better than expected. Vols are a paper tiger because unless they play defense they will be a nobody to threaten for anything. If teams can stop UK on the ground I don't think Levis is good enough to beat teams with his arm.. South Carolina returns a lot and got rattler but they overachieved massively in the 2nd half of the season last year. When USCe hosts UGA at home early you'll know everything. Same with Florida, those first two games will tell you everything about where their defense has improved or not.

Very true, I'm not expecting a lot from Auburn or Florida but a fair amount of that is just due to the unknown. If I had to pick, I would say Florida is more likely to exceed expectations; I think the Gators are about to have a roller coaster of a year... will maybe beat a team or two as underdogs but then lose a game or two inexplicably.

Thanks Dawg! I think they beat Hawaii to get that hook. Have a great Season!

It wouldn't be inexplicable, their first 22 can play with most teams in the country.. but as the season goes on their depth is going to be an issue and attrition will slowly get them in november games most likely. It's because they don't have a full SEC level talent roster top down like people have been accustomed to seeing for many years, the recruiting has been the worst it's ever been in my lifetime and when you've watched UF play the last few years, especially on the defensive side of the ball it's the least talented you've ever witnessed.

For sure... a shame what Dan Mullen did for recruiting at a program where it shouldn't even be that hard. Problem with Florida is a fairly difficult schedule as well. Utah won't be a pushover, even in the Swamp. UF has to go at least 1-1 or better against Utah and Kentucky or that could set a bad tone for the season; I think they lose @Tennessee because of the defense (play the Over in that game). LSU and A&M isn't the easiest slate of crossover games, and FSU should be improved as well. I've personally got Florida with a ceiling around 8-4 in Napier's first year, losses to UGA, Tennessee, A&M, and Utah toss-ups with LSU, Kentucky, FSU, and SC, and wins over USF, EWU, Mizzou, and Vandy.

The first two games are going to be the entire season this year for Gators. If they can't play with those teams in the trenches, they're gonna have a long, dreadful year.. But i've seen people trying to predict they will for certain go 1-3 to start the year and I'll take that bet with anyone that they don't.

Nah... it's football so 1-3 "could" happen but I would be surprised by that. 2-2 or 3-1 much more likely; a 4-0 start for Florida would be a dream start for UF because they have Eastern Washington and Mizzou on deck after that before the gauntlet.

Absolutely zero reason to try and predict Gators start - huge scheme and philosophy changes... might look great and start 4-0, or a confused 1-3. Aggressiveness might be limited if players are (thinking) - rather than reacting. Opponents have no such issue with identity....
Fine work GD, BOL .....
Humble when ambitious - gracious when successful - resilient when you fail.

Right.. but i'll still take my odds as a gambler against someone that wants to give this bet to me, the odds are just in my favor there historically.

The bet is that you are taking Florida to start the season 1-3
