Hey guys, NCAA football is almost back. Best time of the year....
I just cruised over to 5dimes and saw that Montana is a 3 point dog at home to Northern Iowa. I took Montana for the limit (albeit meager) and will do so every time the line moves and they are an underdog. If I get a shot at them as a + ML underdog it will be time to unload.
We will know more as August unfolds, but here are the broad strokes of why:
1) Head Coach Bobby Hauck returns to Missoula.
2) Home night game, only a few tickets left.
3) Lots of new personnel but the cupboards are far from bare.
4) Defense and special teams will be major upgrades from last year.
There are 100 more reasons, but there has been a major culture shift in Missoula. Team GPA is up, several transfers came in, and word around the campfire is that discipline has returned to the program.
August should be very interesting for the Maroon and Silver.

If anyone has any idea of where else in the world offers NCAA FCS lines for betting let me know. 5dimes has me capped pretty low on the FCS games...any addition outs would be great, even if they are in Europe or Asia. Bitcoin has opened up the door to all of those possibilities.

It is a longshot, but even any shops that offer FCS in Vegas are welcomed..headed there next week, it would be great to get a bet or two down on this game while I am in town.

Don't think you'll find any FCS odds posted here in Las Vegas until maybe game day.
Too risky for the Books here.

I remember the Ol' Days ( back in the ' 80's ) when I used to fly in from Chicago to Las Vegas on weekends to bet Football. A few shops offered lines on Ivy League games back then.
Made a lot of my trips very profitable.

Helping Kama'aina to beat their " Local " since 1994.

Line is down to -2.5 Northern Iowa, just bought some more UM on the move.
I guess 5dimes monitors the covers forum...this number is headed to a PK or UM -1 by kickoff (barring any big injuries, transfers, or suspensions of course).

They don’t monitor forums. They simply move the obscure lines on every single bet. I literally move wrestling lines with a single bet. They are that scared of losing money on these “college extra” games, even with a $100 cap!

Waiting for my local to accept bets on FCS games and Ill insta tail your Montana play ...
Appreciate all your work
Whoa!!
DoubleUp, in previous football seasons has your local accepted wagers on FCS vs. FCS games (matching 5D I assume as they are the only offshore to my knowledge that offers these games)?
If/when he starts to accept FCS vs. FCS action, please let me know. I would like to think I can help some with these games (especially early in the season). The early season lines are primarily based on the previous season with little offseason adjustment by Massey/5D. If we as handicappers do ANY research at all to simply know if an FCS team should be improved or worse (let alone the magnitude of how much better or worse) then we have a significant advantage over the book even at -120. I do post all my plays as soon as I can after I lock in openers, but part of the problem as Scal said in post #13 is that they move the lines immediately after every bet and sometimes it is a significant magnitude of line movement and/or past a key #. I would have no issue sending a few plays/ideas through a PM if you are using a local only for FCS and would be ok with locking in Tuesday openers asap. Anyway, I am fascinated that a local would consider accepting such wagers at all.
Off topic of this thread, but write down A.P. -14.5 for Week 2 over PC. PC is moving away from scholarship football in a couple years and the max exodus of players transferring out has already started (and they weren't a very good team to begin with). A.P. will be improved again especially in the Secondary. This is one line that jumped out at me last night that is considerably off IMO.
Best of luck if you start wagering more often on the FCS games.

So true , I have bet $8 on some long shot futures , and the line drops minutes after hitting the confirm button

It's really disgusting. I mean we are talking AT MOST $100 here and the books are afraid they'll be beaten at the lines they post. Don't even POST THE LINE if you going to move lines for $100 (or even $8!).
TD, what do you think of East Carolina -9.5 (your standard FBS dumpster fire possibly worse than Rutgers) at home vs. NC AT&T(undefeated last year).

Montana is now -2.5 home favorites. Quite the move over a ranked UNI squad, but Scal is right...the limits are low and 5d moves lines at will.
A few notes from MT camp:
1) No starting QB has been named, but it will be Dalton Sneed. HC Hauck recruited him to go to UNLV before getting canned. The kid went to Juco for a few years and transferred to MT. Looked good in the spring.
2) Very few tickets left, will be a sellout.
3) Smoke from the forest fires has been bad in MT, but not too bad in Missoula. Practices have not been altered.
4) UNI lost 2nd team Missouri Valley WR Weston for the season, ACL
As of now, I don't like laying points in this one, but that may change. UNI is ranked preseason number 12, and UM is #25. The 25 is a courtesy rank in case the Griz get hot and are in a position to host playoff games. NCAA loves that gate....no way should UM be ranked.

1) The FCS world is expecting big things from Eastern Washington behind QB Gubrud. With no Beau Baldwin calling the plays for the second straight year, I look for Gubrud to regress as a player. EWU is picked to win the Big Sky and #7 in the nation. Overrated from day one.
2) Montana State is a 3 point home dog to Western Illinois. They are having QB issues after two-year returning starter Murray is out for 2018 because of academics. The Cats have literally built their offensive scheme (granted it sucked) around the mobility of this guy. Now it is a two battle between an Oregon transfer (that never works) and some other guy. They may be better, but it looks like another rebuilding season for the Cats.
3) South Dakota State at #3 is a bit of a surprise. They are always pretty good, but not quite elite. This one will take some looking into.
4)Until proven otherwise, NDSU and James Madison are the cream.
Kickoff is almost here, and that is good. Getting real tired of betting against my wife on America's Got Talent. I am pretty good at calling the live vote though...
