Did not expect this at all
So Dabo to Bama? If I was Bama..I woud go all in on Dan Lanning..He is young superstar coach that has won at Oregon and can recruit with the best of them...Knows the SEC and was the DC at Georgia...

Couple of subpar seasons..in a weak ACC conference.....2-3 years ago sure....His stock has sort of fallen...but still a top 5 coach.. What was crazy was Saban was so close to beating Michigan...they had the ball at midfield up 7 with 6 minutes to go.....then they would have destroyed Udub and he could have sailed into the sunset

The landscape of College Football has changed so much with the NIL money, and I think this is the straw that broke the camels back. The NIL money disgusted Saban along with the free movement of players.

Here is a little story for u...When Bama got Tua to commit in 2016...His family moved up Alabama from Hawaii.....Word on the street was his Dad got hooked up with a 6 figure+ job from a booster.... So the playing field is now even and Saban has to compete for 5 star recruits..They will get their share..but they will get them all like before...

All hearsay....

@Blackhawkk
Facts bro....All the under the table deals that all these big time schools were doing to get recruits are no longer a lock..Other schools can offer just as much if not more for a specific player..Bama will still get their fair share but the college landscape is now more even with NIL money involved. Now its who can offer most money and better deal...Who cares about Bama if a lower level power 5 school will offer the kid 100-200K more.....Bama means nothing to that kid.....And rightfully so..U make all the money u can now and fak the schools..There is no loyalty..NFL is a long shot for most players...Go get paid..

You do make a excellent and valid point. No question about that!

Exactly.......some programs that were able to rat-hole players can no longer do so. You can't bury 4/5* players & keep them away from other teams until you're ready to use them anymore. The state of the game has changed.....for better or worse.
A similar story about a 4/5* recruit from Nevada that had committed to Washington. After a month or so, he claimed that his uncle was sick & wanted to be released to go back to Nevada & play. CP granted his release, & a week later he & his family were in Alabama. He turned out to be a bust, but that was just another example of how some programs worked the system.

it evened the landscape. dont fool yourself into thinking those big time programs like Alabama werent already paying those players

I was a freshman at Michigan in 97 when they won the national championship. There was shady stuff going on back then. Robert Traylor had a nice Explorer (crashed it). Anthony Thomas (running back) had a new 3 series BMW. One small booster from SoCal paid enough to get his 5'8" kid on the team as a walk-on.
This was right when the Fab 5 scandal started to pick up, but it wasn't until '99 when the Feds stepped in and raided a prime booster. I think the dude paid the Webber family $280k in total and that was early 1990s money.

There has to be a heavy penalty if a team does all of that for player that ends up being a bust. You can recruit your own busts, no need in taking someone else’s. It’s almost like the NFL, it doesn’t seem to be a good decision to sign free agents. If a player’s team doesn’t want him then why do you want him. Great players don’t hit the market.

Dabo makes sense at Alabama with his game adjustmenting ability, passion and adherence to tradition and also, supporting 'his guys' as far as loyalty and how to do things. Strong recruiter as well. I see him very influential at the host's dinner table with a high school star.
Either way, it should be interesting. I am sure Dabo is happy right where he is too.
