Temple-3'(3 units) I see Both Teams motivated here, Temple maybe more...I'll get back to that, Here is a couple keys that swayed me, This stadium is built North To South, Duke(Hometeam) will be on the east sideline, It is gonna be sunny today and That sun will be blasting on Duke the entire game, The Visitors sideline will be shaded...As The afternoon gets later it is directly in their eyes... I Remember This was a Issue in this Stadium last year....Been a lot of blowouts in this bowl for this very reason..Unless Duke gets the change the sideline which I don't know if they can a big advantage to Temple, Another Temple advantage is They are a Turf team, Duke is a Grass Team, This is a turf field..
independence Bowl Summary & Trends The winner has covered the spread in 18 of the last 20 matchups. The game loser averages 21.5 points since 1998. The betting favorite is 10-2 SU and 9-3 ATS since 2006, covering a -4.7 average line by 10.0 points per game. Teams forcing more takeaways on the season are 10-2 SU and ATS in the last 12 matchups. Temple generates 2.3 and Duke 0.9 turnovers per game in 2018.
The Emotional aspect: Two years ago, Matt Rhule resigned after the Owls beat Navy, 34-10, in the American Athletic Conference championship game. Rhule took the Baylor head coaching job and hired a number of his assistants. While Rhule didn’t coach in the bowl game, the assistants did, but many who he hired were traveling back and forth to the Baylor, working on recruiting and other matters. The assistant coaches missed many bowl practices. It got to the point that graduate assistants were helping to coach the team. Temple lost to Wake Forest, 34-26, in the Military Bowl.
Foley was interim coach when Rhule left and he was named again to guide Temple in the bowl game after Geoff Collins departed for Georgia Tech.
This time, while Collins has departed, all the Temple assistants have been ordered to stay through the bowl game, which means there has been continuity during bowl preparation. Nobody was more candid about how badly that bowl prep went two years ago than first-team all-conference linebacker Shaun Bradley. “It was pretty much chaos two years ago when it [he coaching change] happened,” Bradley said last week before the Owls departed for Shreveport. “To be honest, I don’t think anybody really cared, that is how bad it was two years go.”
Bradley said. “This year, it is completely different. Our leaders have stepped up and people are taking control and making sure everybody is held accountable.” Foley said he learned a great deal from the previous experience. He said he has been consulting with the players more this time, getting their advice on certain things such as what the Owls should be doing at practice. Since Friday, the bowl preparation has also provided a sense of refuge after the news that day that Cliff Foley, Ed’s younger brother, had passed away. Ed Foley said on Wednesday the cause of the death was still unknown. “It’s been difficult; it is like I have two families, my football family and my blood family, and to have them all come to dinner for Christmas was really special to me,” Foley said.
Physical Advantage:Temple’s offensive line against Duke’s defensive line. Temple has allowed just 15 sacks this season and Duke only has 21 sacks., which was 12th in the AAC.
Duke is playing in its sixth bowl game in the last seven years. … Temple has appeared in eight bowl games, with half of them coming the last four years. … Temple’s seniors are the winningest class in school history with 35 victories.

Been coming to this site for 15 years. I rarely post, but that is one of the most intelligent breakdowns I’ve read. Bowls are a total crap shoot, but I do like Temple today.

Wisconsin+3(-125) 3 units..Bought a 1/2...I think Wisconsin has an advantage with their defensive line/front seven vs Miami’s offensive line (one of the worst in CFB)....Miami is also Suffering a Loss of Their Best D lineman..defensive tackle Gerald Willis III is out for the bowl with a hand injury.
. Willis III is one of the 2-3 best DTs in America and his play at the center of Miami’s defensive line was integral to the defense’s success this year. Miami has no other player like him on the roster
Wisconsin has a Size advantage with their offensive line vs Miami’s defensive line...
The Badgers gotta Run The Rock, But That is what they do...Three teams ran the ball for over 200 yards against Miami this season and four teams averaged more than four yards per carry. North Carolina thrashed the Hurricanes run defense for 215 yards and a season-best 5.4 YPC against the Miami defense. The Tar Heels were done in by six turnovers, including three defensive touchdowns.
Georgia Tech ran for a season-high 231 yards on 53 carries and two touchdowns in their November victory against Miami. The most impressive offensive performance this season against Miami was by Boston College. The Eagles ran for 223 yards and two touchdowns and added 210 more yards through the air and another touchdown.
Badger RB Taylor has ran for over 1800 yards and amassed 4,000 yards from scrimmage in his two years in Madison, WI and Miami is missing Willis In the Middle of that D line..
Miami hasn’t thrown for more than 205 yards in a game since September, and didn’t top 260 all season. This Wisconsin defense ranks 43rd in S&P+ and 50th in yards per pass attempt allowed....Badger Relief QB Coan is making his fourth career start in place of junior Alex Hornibrook. Coan, from Sayville, New York, also started at Northwestern, Penn State and Purdue. Coan is in the same position as Joel Stave in 2014 and Brooks Bollinger in 1999. Tanner McEvoy was the season-opening starter in 2014, but Stave finished in that role and closed things out with a 34-31 overtime victory over Auburn in the Outback Bowl. Bollinger, meanwhile, sat behind Scott Kavanagh when the '99 season began, but was running the show when the Badgers knocked off Stanford 17-9 in the Rose Bowl.....QB Play is not How the Badgers win...It is running the Rock..
It gonna be Cold In NY, Does Miami have the Heart to take the hits from The Badgers Physical Running game? Miami has yet to show Heart when It needs to.. The Hurricanes played six road games this season and lost three of them in relatively cold weather against Virginia, Georgia Tech, and Boston College, scoring a total of just 48 points in those games...

but what I see is a team that has a power ranking 31 points higher than its opposition, and with that to me they are begging you to take Temple. Win or lose imo the play is Duke. goodluck today

Baylor will be hurt by the loss of senior all-Big 12 punter Drew Galitz, who tore his ACL before the regular season finale against Texas Tech.
