I've decided to keep track of my single
plays for the year since for some reason I seem to have had a good
success rate with them thus far. My plays have thus far involved
primarily Villanova, the Big 10 and Baylor as well.
The logic:
I've
followed Big 10 basketball for several years now and I think I've seen
every Northwestern/Wisconsin game that's taken place at the Kohl Centre
and I cannot remember a time ever when Northwestern has lost by less
than 15 points.
Northwestern is a perennially over-achieving
team. They never have great talent but can always post a respectable
record due to their tremendous home court advantage. On the road is a
different story though and it always has been. Almost the entirety of
Northwestern's offensive strength is their tremendous 3-pt shooting.
Without that, they are a very mediocre team. On the flip side,
Wisconsin is the best team in the country when it comes to 3-pt defense
and they have been for the last few years. It's the main reason why
they always blow out Northwestern almost every time they play.
Wisconsin has under-achieved this year and has not lived up to
expectations. They have uncharacteristically lost a few home games and
just barely squeeked by a shitty Nebraska squad in the last game. Bo
Ryan gave them hell all week about it and Wisconsin is going to come out
fired up and ready. They will be able to feed off the crowd at the
Kohl centre which is one of the best home court advantages in the
country.
It's almost stylistically impossible for Northwestern to
keep this within single digits in my opinion and history has proven
this. Add to this the fact that the game is being played in Wisconsin
and that Wisconsin has a chip on their shoulder from playing their worst
ball of the season recently, and I foresee this being a DD victory for
the Badgers.
