Not much to say about the 1 point loss Saturday other than to say I had it capped right but a weak first half was too much to overcome and we didn't cover by a single point. HUGE rebounding edge, good defense, balanced scoring, too much inside.....I had it all right. Just can't be up by 3 at the half and cover too may 18 point spreads. Fuck.
My Terps travel to Northwestern Tuesday night where they are 4 point underdogs and the total is 129.5 as I type.
I think this will be a tough road game for the boys. NW has a good team and though they have played a bunch of crap teams until their OT win this past weekend against Ill St, they have balanced scoring and unless they have changed their style recently, they play a pretty methodical style that grinds teams down. Oh wait, that's Big Ten basketball overall!
Terps will finally face a team since Kentucky that can match up with them in the frontcourt as NW goes 6'8, 7'0 and 6'8 with the forwards that see the most time. Their guards are also on the bigger side so no real advantage size-wise. Rebounding should still go slightly to the Terps if they show some energy on the boards but nothing like we saw the last few games. I think the Terps are deeper than NW as we have 8-10 guys playing significant minutes while they have 6-7. Turge will run bodies at them in waves in an attempt to wear them down as has become the pattern.
One thing that REALLY concerns me is the experience that NW has in the backcourt compared to the Terps. We are turning it over too much and the guard play has been spotty at best. Match this up against some very experienced NW guards and I think you find the edge that's important in this game. I think the Terps will have more athlesticism in the back and front court but athleticism can't overcome mismanaging possessions. Turge hasn;t been happy with the way we've protected the ball thus far and I don't see it improving very dramatically overnight.
I think this will be a huge test as there are some things that favor the Terps (depth, slight to size, athleticism) but several important things that favor NW (experience, home court, size is solid). I don't like the Terps tomorrow night though I could easily see us winning if things click and we don't turn it over too much. I like our chances much better if we can get into their bench.
I think this game stays pretty close throughout and with both teams shooting it pretty well form the charity stripe, plus Maryland getting to the FT line alot most games, I think this lends itself to a game that goes over 129.5. Maryland can grind with NW if need be but when they turn them over, tey will push it up the floor and not bring it up slowly. Both teams have balanced scoring that means if guys aren't shooting well, neither team has to have a certain player go off in order to get into the high 60's to low 70's.

I hate hearing that especially from a Terp fan. I took the terps +3.5 and felt pretty confident. The Len kid is a stud. NW has some decent bigs but none in comparison to him. Agree that the guard play could determine the outcome. Best of luck tho!

I agree Len will likely be the best player on the court Tuesday but I don't like th way we have been turning it over the first five games, four of those against bad teams.

Il assuming their guards will score and set the front court up for easy shots and that the Terps will score too. This one seems off 8+ on the total in my opinion.

Terps officially sued today by the ACC for $52MM and some change. What dumbasses they ACC leadership is. The Terps will be able to prove in court (if it ever gets that far) that the "damages" experienced by the ACC are FAR less than that figure pulled out of their behind this last time they upped it. Also, FSU and Terps were the only two schools to vote against the fee being upped which will bode well for them also. "Hey, we never agreed to that bump so stick it up your behind."
My guess.......ACC and Terps settle for $25-$30MM, Terps begin Big Ten play next year instead of 2014, Terps get fucked by ACC officials at every turn (as directed by the Bojangles-bred leadership) and finally, we never look back! Terps get fronted the money by the Big Ten, make it up and then some in 5-6 years and are in the front row when all but four major coneferences blow up.

Terps with a 26-10 rebounding margin. The NW frontcourt is getting run off the court, some of which has to do with the fact that Swopshire has had two fouls since the 16 minute mark. They have to have him in the second half.
I see Turge making sure the ball goes inside to the big guys, especially Len, early and often in the next half.
