I always took Units as a percentage of your bankroll. For me, 1 UNIT is 1% of my entire starting bankroll, I think that's pretty standard. For example, Bankroll = $5,000 UNIT = $50, etc.
For me, I adhere almost exculsively to a flat betting system, with each of my plays be 2 UNITS, or 2% of my bankroll. Every week or two I will have a 3 UNIT play, and maybe 4 or 5 times a season I have a 5 UNIT play.
I think if you do it as percentage of your bankroll, it helps promote money management.

Great thread
I couldn't agree with you guys more. These unit systems make zero sense and are not believable.
How could someone jump from betting an average of 1 to 5 units per game to all of a sudden betting 20 to 50 units? Did they all hit the lotto overnight? A unit should be based off your bankroll. I'm not sure how these cappers bankrolls all swell overnight, espically when they are on a bad streak?
It's all for show, attention, and plus it violates what everyone preaches around here. MONEY MANAGEMENT!!

How about this...I don't even bet on these games, my unit = $0....I just get on here and make shit up to see what people say....

This is not a knock on UNC...him and I are totaly cool...
I just am confused as to people and their "units". Most cappers on this site, good, bad, indifferent rarely seem to be 1 unit. To me, 1 unit is sort of a base bet. If your base bet is 200 bucks, then boom there is your unit.
All I ever see is 3-5 units or 10 units+ on games. Rarely do I see anyone betting base units. What gives here? What is the point of calling something a unit if you never bet 1 unit?
In the grand scheme of things this means nothing and really is not worth a thread I guess, but Im really stupified by these units. I havent made a bet over 3 units all year..and most people havent made a bet under 3 units.
Seems little point in declaring units when one doesnt unite their base unit as 1.
I totally agree with you bro. I'm new to this site but have been capping for a while now and my base or average play whatever you want to call it is 1unit. Every now n then i may play a 2,3 or 4unit play but thats it. GL today bro

When I started betting at the sportsbooks here in Vegas I went to the window and said units as thats was the advice I had gotten from a friend who was helping me with picks at the time, the writer at the window had no idea what I was talking about and never heard of it, as I started making more bets I figured out most people bet on levels of $20 so a -110 line would be $22 to win $20 or a unit a $110 bet to win 100 or 5 units $11 to win 10 or .5 unit, but on here it what you want it to be.

I'd hate to be in that house for his POY.

I think some people may do it for show, but I also think that some people have other agendas...no idea what they are
Hit it on the head.

Best thread ever Crus!!! I HATE seeing huge unit plays. I HATE hearing that the "normal' unit is 100 therefore you have to say you are betting 100 units if you bet 10 grand on a game (which I highly doubt anybody here does). Like you said, your unit size should be your normal bet, and to make maximum profit in the long run, it should also be based on your bankroll. I like the 2-5% of your total bankroll rule for a 1 unit bet.
to you for starting this thread, I've tried a few times but just got ignored.
