He doesn't 'lose control' of anything. There is a thing called gravity and a defender is all over you trying to deflect the pass and then is tied up with your legs and body. You are going to the ground...and hard.
The arm and hand are only so big for an oblong ball. If it were a baseball in a hand I could understand asking that it not jostle free. But a 230+ 6 foot something giant is coming to the ground after jumping to his highest point, using all his concentration to catch the ball (he does so) and in the next second he needs to hit the ground with what, both arms wrapped around the ball like a baby? With a defender on him and they are asking that every single part of an oblong ball to remain off the ground, when the said ball is essentially, in the guy's hand already. Ridiculous. These reffing crews are a joke.
[/QuoteEasy to be funny about this one BB. With the PI call last week (and the attached fair 'catch'), NFL reffing crews are complete jokes.

Exactly. And Dez won't admit this either. He says he was going for the end zone but he was actually trying to break his fall in part too! Ya know, to protect his body from a surface that became as hard as a pool table slate.
God forbid he actually use one of his forearms to brace himself, and when he cannonballs into the ground after jumping to his highest point and a smidgen of ball touches dirt, while he of course, holds onto it. It shifts in his arms but he holds onto it the entire way.
