The LA Lakers, the biggest draw and money maker in the NBA, swept out of the 2nd round by a team owned by a guy (Cuban) that Stern HATES with a passion
Kinda kills all your "stern controls the games" and "the league wants this team to advance" bullshit
Cant wait to hear the bullshit excuses you guys come up with now as to why you're losing bets

The NBA isn't fixed. They aren't smart enough to pull that off without someone from the media ratting them out. Here is why most bettors think that it is fixed:
1. Officiating sucks and you can't complain about it. One good player has a much bigger impact on his team in the NBA than in MLB or NFL. Technicals and foul trouble can handcuff a team and decide the outcome of a game. Manning could tell Hochuli to F himself and would only get 15 yards. Tim Duncan can look at Joey Crawford and get ejected!
2. The rules aren't enforced consistently. It's not coincidence that the home team usually gets more FT attempts. It also isn't coincidence that there would be less fouls called in a Boston/LA series than there would be in a Pho/Dallas series. Gritty teams are allowed to play harder than finesse teams.
3. Guaranteed contracts. Vince Carter, TMac, Starbury. These guys fold mentally when adversity hits. NBA players aren't crying on the drive home to their mansions after a loss. They get paid the same win or lose. They also are less educated than NFLers. NFL players have to worry about getting waived. You think the Knicks would have liked to be able to waive Starbury rather than pay him 20M to not play?
Poor officiating, inconsistent rules, and players who don't have to give their best efforts=hardest sport to cap and easiest sport to bitch about.

i agree with you.
but ... if the heat is on that you (stern, nba, etc..) are fixing games and everyone is starting to talk about it ... what's the next best move? Let small market teams win or just let the cards fall as they may for a season or two until the heat is off. then if the ratings go way down you can bet your ass in two years it will be back to big market teams in the "final 4".
