We cleared out the juice box but got two wins. Since our ROI is way too high, you should probably fade today's picks. But let's hope they win anyway.

Today's hot dogs feature a juicy dog and two -110 teams. Not as juicy as I'd like, but we take what we can get in moneyline sports.

Hi friends,
Be aware of MLB chase systems. If you are a handicapper, you should be able to indicate whether a team will win within the next 7 games. You shouldn't need a chase system to tell you that. I know chase systems can seem enticing when you see results like 300-8, but that doesn't indicate units lost. So let's do the math. Assuming even odds, which never happens, on a 6 game chase: Each loss costs you: 1U + 2U + 4U + 8U + 16U + 32U = 63U. Multiply by 8, and you have a system that pays 300U-504U. That's a loss of 204U. There are ways of making chase systems profitable, but as Lippsman said, you cannot do so by dredging through the past. Enjoy your games. |

Hi emcee,
1. We can't all win. Betting on sports is a marketplace. For each dollar bet on one side, there must be a dollar bet on the other side. The casinos collect the juice. 2. Your "system" isn't really a system. What you're doing is trying to find optimal betting leverage based on yesterday's game. That's smart. I would recommend you don't turn this into a chase system, especially since you've indicated you can't afford it. 3. Baseball is a game of averages. A hot-hitting team will need to go cold in order to maintain league averages. That means that if a lot of your hot-hitting teams go cold on you on consecutive days, you could go in the red very easily. Be aware of that and plan accordingly. |

glue, it depends on how you approach things. If you're using the same sportsbook for all your trips, it behooves you to tip and make conversation. It never hurts to make friends with the folks who handle your money. Some of the books - Cantor comes to mind - are staffed with young guys who can hook you up with all kinds of things. A simple "So, what's going on tonight?" can lead to some pretty good stuff once someone knows you carry four digits worth of cash.
On the other hand, if you're betting at a place like Ceasar's where the old fogies are writing tickets and management is only concerned with Blackjack, your return on tips will be minimal. Always tip at LVH. That's holy ground. |

I know there's a lot of ways to bet, so good on HAT for finding something that works for him.
But to those who want to follow his system, consider this: If you can't look at a team's schedule and figure out whether they'll win in the next six games, you probably shouldn't be betting baseball. |
