Davis first domino to fall in crazy offseason that has Lakers favorites for 2019-20 NBA title

Raptors fans are still partying in the streets of Toronto celebrating their team’s first NBA title in franchise history on Thursday night, but oddsmakers have already turned their attention to next season, and they aren’t sure the Raps reign as Kings of the North will be a long one.

This NBA offseason is slated to be one of the most dramatic in history with more potential big-name player movement than ever before. Anthony Davis has already been traded to the Lakers, while Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, Kemba Walker, Klay Thompson, Jimmy Butler and Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard headline the greatest free agent class in NBA history.

With Davis in L.A. and all that potential movement, the Superbook at Westgate thinks LeBron James can lure at least one more star to La Land and have moved the Lakers as the 3/1 favorites to win the 2019-20 NBA title. In fact, the Superbook have opened a prop "Will the Lakers win the NBA Championship by the 2021-22 NBA Finals?" with the Yes at a mere +150 and the No at -180.

As for this season, they don’t think the Lakers will be the only team in L.A. to restructure their roster in a major way, as the Clippers, are the next best favorite in the West, and third best overall (behind the Bucks) to hoist the Larry O’B trophy at 7/1.

It really is an offseason unlike any other. The Bucks sit a 6/1, tops in the East, but five of their top seven players are free agents. The Rockets are on the board at 8/1, but rumors are swirling that anyone on the roster is available. Heck, the current champs are 10/1 with Leonard’s return a mystery.

Meanwhile, with Klay Thompson suffering an ACL injury and Kevin Durant likely out for the year with an achilles injury/a free agent, the Warriors are listed at 12/1.

Unfortunately, with Davis going to the Lakers, KD’s injury and rumors that Kyrie is headed to Brooklyn, in true Knicks fashion, New York’s odds to win this season have already taken a dramatic hit. They opened at 16/1 and have fallen to 50/1.

Between jerseys and odds, a lot of things are going to change between now when the season tips off, so maybe take all these numbers with a grain of salt for now. But here are the odds for every team to win the 2019-20 NBA Championship.
