Alabama-Birmingham 41, Alabama A&M 14: D.J. Vinson rushed for a school-record five touchdowns and the host Blazers scored the final 41 points.

Vinson rushed for 106 yards while quarterback Cody Clemens was 18-of-23 for 228 yards as Alabama-Birmingham (2-1) shrugged off a 47-34 loss at Mississippi State last week. The Blazers, who were outgained 117-13 in the first quarter and trailed 14-0 in the second, finished with 483 yards after averaging 519 in their first two games.

Quarterbacks Brandon Wells (three interceptions), Jaymason Lee and Chris Leachman were a combined 12-of-34 for 257 yards for FCS member Alabama A&M (1-2). Rashad Anderson returned a punt 77 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter, and Wells' 57-yard TD pass to Octayvius Miles came 1:19 into the second.

UAB quickly took control in the second quarter with Vinson's 1-yard touchdown and tied it on its next possession on Vinson's 24-yard score. The Blazers went in front for good 21-14 with 1:02 remaining in the first half after Vinson capped a 13-play 66-yard drive with a 1-yard plunge.

UAB continued to pour it on after intermission by scoring on its first three drives. Ja'Won Arrington's 14-yard touchdown run was sandwiched by scoring jaunts of 12 and 13 yards by Vinson, who also tied the Conference USA record for rushing touchdowns in a game.
