Junior forward Reid Travis scored 26 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to lead Stanford to a 78-62 season-opening victory over Cal Poly in a non-conference game Friday night at Palo Alto, Calif.

Travis and senior forward Michael Humphrey (nine rebounds) were key contributors to the Cardinal (1-0) outrebounding Cal Poly 41-24. Travis also had four assists, which was tied for the team lead with guard Robert Cartwright.

Travis, three short of his career high of 29 points, shot 9 of 16 from the field and was 7 of 10 at the free-throw line.

Stanford guard Isaac White added 17 points, 15 of which came on all five 3-pointers he attempted in the game.

Cal Poly (0-1) was led by guard Donovan Fields' 21 points, six rebounds and five assists. Fellow guard Victor Joseph added 17 points.

Stanford led by double digits throughout the second half after ending the first half on a 12-4 run, capped by Cartwright's 3-pointer as the halftime buzzer sounded.

The Mustangs shot 38.3 percent from the field compared to Stanford's mark of 49.1. The Cardinal made 9 of 19 3-pointers.

Cal Poly closed to within 11 points with 7:11 remaining but Stanford answered with a 10-3 run to pull away.

Stanford played without touted freshmen Daejon Davis and Kezie Okpala, both of whom are out with injuries.
