Temple has been the most pathetic joke for years. Every year there are teams that have been garbage and come out of the gate to make a statement and the owls are one of them this year IMO.
Considering the big injuries last year and the fact that they had diaper guys on that team they played real hard and won 4 Big games!
Here are the PROs and CONs;
Temple PROs; Coach Al Gordon is there to put them on the map in the MAC.
-Senior QB (Dimichele) is back from injury!
- there are 23 returning starters! 10 on offense 11 on defense! The offense is stacked! that is as a Temple team.
-Defense; Temple was the number one leader in the MAC Conf. last year in pass D and Total D! and every player returns!
Army CONs; The Pro backfield is gone. They are changing this year to the Option offense. The problem is (as any change to offense) is weather you have the right athletes to make it happen and you cannot put the option in overnight. It attracts certain players that run it in high school and Army ain't got em!
- QB Carson Williams is a drop back passer. Though they do have an incoming freshman that is coming in and he indeed ran the option in High School, but he is still a freshman.
- Offense; they only return 3 starters from a team that adv 17 points a game last year.
- Defense; only 5 starters return that gave up over 400 yds and 31 points a game. All the secondary are new. Though the 5 returning starters are on the line (all juniors) and should be pretty good against the run, maybe?
I am not asking Temple to beat Penn St. but I am the Owls to come out of the gate to make a statement with all returning players that started to make a statement last year until injuries (but still was pretty solid). On top of that! They are going up against a depleted Army team that lost next to everyone that was garbage to begin with, and now, they change their offense to the option without the personel?
Temple is moving FORWARD and Army is moving BACKWARDS (and will be for a few years) so I will lay the 7 on a friday night and look for Temple to win by 17+ GL

MOST IMPORTANT PLAYER
QB Adam DiMichele was on his way to a truly fine season last year when he went down with a broken leg. He's back now and he's healthy, ready to again lead the offense.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"The biggest difference is that the team is intact. We had more players out for the spring than we had on the team last fall. We won't be relying on freshmen as much." -- Temple coach Al Golden on his team as he enters his third year on the job.
Couple of quotes from news concerning Owls- thanks cardinalkid the advatar killer!! preachin to the choir mtrain354-GL

They have faced option style offenses in 3 of their last 13 games. Navy option gives everyone fits so it's comparing apples to watermelons when looking at navy option and what to expect from Army option. Also, Temple was very competitive in the game vs navy last year.
Army loses best offensive player in Trimble and is likely starting a true freshman at qb.
Army loses it's best defensive player in Campbell.
Temple returns almost everyone and despite losing , outplayed Army last year.
Army can cover but Temple should be the bet. I bet Temple last year as a 3 point favorite and that worked out not so well.

Certainly possible. I would never be shocked by Temple laying an egg. If I was an official, I would never throw a flag against the academies either.
