NEW YORK -- Russell Martin drew a tiebreaking bases-loaded walk off Dellin Betances with one out in the top of the eighth inning, lifting the Toronto Blue Jays to a 7-6 victory over the New York Yankees Wednesday afternoon.

Betances (3-4) tied a career high by issuing four walks and did so for the first time since becoming a late-inning reliever in 2014. At one point, he threw nine straight pitches out of the strike zone and only nine of his 27 pitches were strikes.

Betances loaded the bases by issuing walks to Miguel Montero, Kevin Pillar and Ryan Goins. He struck out Jose Bautista looking on a close pitch.

Against Martin, Betances reached a 2-2 count but missed twice with his curveball and Montero trotted in to restore Toronto's lead.

Before Betances' wild inning, Toronto tied the game at 6 when Martin opened the seventh with a homer off Chad Green.

Martin's homer occurred after the Yankees stormed back from a five-run deficit and took a 6-5 lead.

Aaron Judge matched Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio's team record for homers by a rookie with his 29th while Ji-Man Choi added a two-run shot and Didi Gregorius hit a two-run double in the fifth.

Those hits occurred after Justin Smoak, Kendrys Morales and Pillar homered off Michael Pineda.

Neither starter lasted five innings.

Pineda allowed five runs and nine hits in three-plus innings. Marco Estrada allowed six runs and five hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Three relievers pitched 4 1/3 scoreless innings as Toronto won a series for the first time since June 9-11. After Danny Barnes (2-2) retired the side in a scoreless eighth, Roberto Osuna converted his 21st save by striking out Judge with the tying run on first.

Toronto took a 1-0 lead when center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury bobbled Smoak's single for an error with one out in the first.

Smoak made it 3-0 by hitting a 3-2 changeup into the right-center field bleachers with one out in the third. Four pitches later, Morales slugged an 0-2 slider into the netting above Monument Park in center field.

Pilar opened the fourth by driving a 1-0 fastball over the right-center field wall.

Judge tied DiMaggio when he homered over the right-center field fence with none out in the fourth. Choi made it a one-run game by hitting a 457-foot homer into the right-center field seats with nobody out in the fifth and Gregorius put the Yankees ahead with a double down the right field line.
