Portugal, Spain and Greece were struggling economies before the euro too, they just need to catch up to Western European standards, don't forget these countries were dictatorships until the '70's, it wasn't a leve playing field.

The numbers don't back that up P. American cities are far more dangerous and have way higher crime of all kinds than European ones. And France's economy isn't the greatest, but lots of other countries are doing well.
true , our inner cities are a disaster , crime here is way up , and getting really bad in good areas now as well , already 3 gangbangers shot a few blocks from here away in 2017 , 2 on Thursday morning , i heard the shots

Maybe you're blessed in DC. I know people are scared, but often there's no reason for it. Media doesn't help, fear sells news. I know the areas in the large French cities that you refer too, it is a huge problem, but they don't make up the whole country. Gun violence and violent crime is way worse across the US, the stats are horrendous.
Maybe you're looking at things through nostalgic glasses as well?
