Where are the 49ers tight now!?...I don't think they won one game yet!
2. Without question, the most important point on this list. The NFL is a QB LEAGUE. If you don’t have at the very least an above average QB, your team WILL NOT WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP. PERIOD. Let’s look at the 12 playoff teams last year and who they were quarterbacked by: Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Brett Favre, Donovan McNabb, Kurt Warner, Tony Romo, Joe Flacco, Carson Palmer, Phillip Rivers, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and……Mark Sanchez?
Look – Not a coincidence most of the names on this list are studs. In fact….the only NON Pro-bowlers on this list? Joe Flacco – who should have made it last season over Vince Young….and You guessed it – Mark Sanchez. Despite what you hear in the media, an NFL QB cannot simply manage the game with a good line, running game, and defense. That is unless you have a truly dominant defense like Jim McMahon in 1985 or Trent Dilfer in 2000. Do you think Mark Sanchez is capable of putting the Jets on his back and winning the game for them? No?
You know what’s worse than not being able to win a game for a team when its needed? Losing the game for them. Let’s look at Mark Sanchez’s passing numbers last year.
I'll just go back to your main point, you bascially are an uneducated football fan and pointed an argument at one player on a 53 man roster being the reason they wont make the playoffs. Its not a qb league, its still about defense. once again for the 100th time, they were the #1 defense in the NFL last year. came into the season adding antonio cromartie, jason taylor, spent a first round pick on kyle wilson. what made you believe they would be worse? the NFL hasnt changed championships are won on defense. look at the saints last year, they won the super bowl on defense and special teams. turnover margin was through the roof. Brees was not the difference. Pittsburgh the year before great defense, Giants great defense, patriots teams great defense, ravens, tampa the list goes on.

Got to admit the season is 16 games long and anything can happen.I've been a Jets probably longer than many posters here have been alive .Heck I lived in New England 42 yrs ,Texas 9 yrs and now Idaho only 2 yrs.In fact I lived in N.Y. state only a year in my life, but been a diehard fansince I was 12. I haven't felt this good about the team since the Namath days, coincidentally the same number. Those days of how are they going to beat themselves this week are long gone.I'm not going to bad talk the Niners or any other team.Heck QB'S mentioned Romo,Rivers,Favre are what a combined 7-10 and some of those others probably don't have a chance of making to the playoffs themselves..Brady and Manning aside and possibly Flacko.
Lets see now the Jets are 17th in total offense and 14th in total defense but are still 5-1.They were leading the league in Rushing again ,K.C. may actually have just moved slightly ahead after today.I think the old guy LT is 6th overall, had the team has the best turnover ratio leading up to the last game.Gave it up 3 times and still are and won.Denver played them well.Hats off to them.Jets are 3rd highest scoring team in the league 26.4 pg.Their defense has recovered more fumbles than any other team in the league. It's not always about the numbers.Heck the Baltimore Ravens won a superbowl with Trent Dilfer and Washington with Doug Williams.I'm not predicting the Jets win a superbowl, but for them not to make the playoffs..well thats another story. They were one game away from the superbowl last year with a rookie coach and qb.They also didn't even win the division.HBO's Hard Knox probably pissed off a lot of teams but you know what, something seems to be working for them. They believe in their coaches and so do I... They have great team chemistry. They have a stadium they share equally and aren't the 2nd act.Actually just a thought a Giants/Jets superbowl would be neat.So keep hating us ,we don't care.JETS baby! See you in the playoffs...

Wow...very mature. Nice detective skills in figuring by my screen name and my picture that I am a Giant fan. Good deductive reasoning skills.
Listen, of course my argument is one sided. INTELLIGENT disagreements are welcome and encouraged.
And yes it stinks being a Niners fan. We haven't won a championship since 1994 unlike the Jets who recently won in....
oh yeah....1969.
Good luck this season.
If you want the side bet of who wins more games this season the Niners or Jets I will gladly take you up on that bet.

To those that are upset because my argument is one-sided, that was intentional...to get people to see the flaws the Jets have. Its obvious many Jets homers have been upset by this thread.
Look at the numbers I posted. They don't lie. People have been blinded by two playoff wins.
and to compare their D to the 85 Bears or 00 Ravens is LAUGHABLE. Could they be great? Sure. They have a long way to go to get there.
I don't see this team winning more than 9 games. Feel free to bump this thread if you'd like. Could I be wrong? Yup. I'm not drinking the kool aid.

Sanchez is easily one of the worst starting QBs in the NFL. Force the Jets to pass and he will throw 3+ INTs per game. Shonn Greene has fumbling problems and LT is too old. With no Revis, the Jets are going to struggle especially against the Pats (Moss) and Dolphins (Marshall).

Yeah real impressive offense performance..Sanchez sucks nuts..

If anyone above thinks that picking up LT is an improvement over Thomas Jones is completely insane. Losing Jones and Faneca could prove to be huge. We will see how Greene holds up for the whole year as an every down back because I wouldn't count on LT for anything.

Hugh - Do you have any thoughts of your own.. or is that your thing -- you go into threads well after the fact and bash away?
Personally I don't care. I contributed my thoughts to the board for discussion, but seriously what do you offer the community besides giving us a glimpse into your sad, pathetic, lonely life?
You think you are embarrasing me somehow?
What I can say about you is that you waited 2 FULL months before making an opinion on this thread. To me that speaks volumes about you (along with every negative after the fact post you make on this board).
Way to play it safe buddy....you keep playing it safe so you don't fail.
You should change your screen name to the criticizer because that is all you contribute to this forum.
If you wanna picks games the rest of the season head to head against me, you are more than welcome pal. you just let me know. I doubt you will though....because you don't already know the outcome.

Actually, I spoke with a few Jets' fans before the season started, they too, agreed that they would feel more comfortable had the team kept Jones because of past sucesses with him under the system. Of course, the keyword being BEFORE. Now all of a sudden, they spoke as if they KNEW all along L.T would rejuvenate himself.
Jets no doubt are good but it's much easier to wait till now to pick on someone's opinions.

Can you ever remember a more overhyped, overrated team ever in an NFL pre-season? Me neither. Here are some reasons you need to recognize why the Jets will not make the playoffs this season.
1. The Jets were 9-7 last year. They won their ninth game in the NFL’s last regular season game when the Cincinnati Bengals benched all of their starters to rest for the playoffs. Because of this, the Jets snuck into the playoffs. Let’s look more closely at the Jets 9 wins, shall we?
The Jets started off the 2009 season with two quality wins at 8-8 Houston and at home against a recovering New England Patriot team. I’ll give you those two wins. Then, they beat the 8-8 Titans who were an atrocious 0-6 to start the year. After LOSING to the hapless Bills, the Jets beat the hopeless 5-11 Raiders. They then rolled off three straight losses before winning three straight against Carolina, Buffalo, and Tampa; whose combined record was 17-32. Wow!!!! World Beaters! Finally, after losing on their own field in December to the domed Falcons, the Jets got their remaining two wins against Indianapolis and Cincinnati. Two teams who had their starters benched for at least half of their respective games.
To recap: The Jets beat Houston. Beat the Patriots (and later lost by 17 to the same team when they were healthy), beat Tennessee who got off to a horrible start with Kerry Collins, beat the laughing stock Raiders, beat the laughing stock Bills, beat the 3-11 Buccaneers, beat an 8-8 Carolina team who was playing for the first time without their starting QB, and beat two teams who benched their starters and had nothing to play for.
Other than the two teams who benched their starters to rest for the playoffs, the combined record of the 7 teams the Jets beat were 48-64. – impressive, indeed. I won’t even mention the fact that of their 7 losses….only two of them came against a team with a winning record. For real. But let the memory of the Jets two big playoff wins against an overrated Bengal team and an underachieving Charger team cloud how the Jets actually performed for the 2009 season. I’ll look at their actual body of work, thank you.
I am sure that "u" sir have not been round long enough to know what football is,let alone are a fan of any team that has suffered the futility that us Jet fans have. you sir are an ass and fu and your giant fan ass {if u r 1] or u r from the ne area. I take offense to your attempt to start a thread regarding the NYJ attempt to win a Superbowl. I do realize this thread was started in 8/10 but i took the bait. As a jet fan for 38years, I cannot wait for them to lift the Lombardi Trophy in February. Do you know what the Lombardi Trophy is?
