Since he'll be traded just for the rest of the season and return
to TOR after that. I would think a team loaded with prospects
is more likely to be the trading partners. That being said CHI
is in bad need of vetern leadership going into their first playoffs
in about 100 years.
*hmm* . . . That'd be nuts. I'd love to see Mats in a Blackhawks sweater. You're very right about Chi-town, they've got future hall of famers to spare on that club.

Chicago needs him just to have a chance at a playoff run. Without Toews they're in a load of trouble
Dude . . . Chi-town is rolling right now. They've got a decent shot at beating the Sharks tonight (yes they're in SJ, but the Sharks are on a 4 game skid and to put 'em in for 5 will not be easy pickins).
But anyway, the Blackhawks have gone on a few winning streaks this season, not to mention they beat the Red Wings, while (until recently) seemingly nobody can beat them. Ya, as long as either Lalime or Kabby can keep playing solid in net, I think we will definitely see the Blackhawks this second season.

up n them guts i think you were trying to say that leaf fans wouldnt mind seeing ottawa win the cup because the cup hasnt been in canada for a long time, i just wanna say that is not true lol, i would rather have another strike for 10 years than to see them win the cup, and trust me everyone here was cheering for anaheim last year. it might be jealousy but ive been to leaf/ottawa games in toronto and in ottawa, and the fans hate eachother, sundin will not go to ottawa and ottawa would never trade spezza for him, but i wish they would lol. and did you hear richard peddie say, the board has invested a lot of money in the team so of course we have a say in hockey matters, this is ridiculous, invest your money and trust the guys who know the game or take your money out, i cant believe fletcher sat there and didnt say anything, looks like another one of the boards puppets

Guts - They're 5 points out right now and in that conference, I don't see em making it. Just my opinion, but I don't think the Hawks are a playoff team.

unless u have a team u believe is a centipedic hair from winning a stanley cup u would be dumb dumb dumb to give up a horde of futures to rent mats sundin for 3-4 months...
hope is one thing, reality quite another...first things first, look no further than strong and balanced clubs that possess cup-calibre goaltending...
vancouver (bobby luongo)...anaheim (giguere)...jersey (brodeur)...
maybe carolina with cam ward has an outside chance...

Right on Leafsin2067 . . . I wasn't aware that the hatred ran so deep between TOR & OTT. I always assumed that Montreal was the most annoying/hated team in Canada . . . and that they were the bigger rival. Thanks for the enlightenment on this matter though.
I don't know much about the situation in Toronto specifically. But I've seen just about every Baseball owner (especially the Giants) cheapen, degrade, and disgrace the entire sport by essentially just being "bean-counters" and nothing else.
That's why it's so refreshing to see a guy like Gretzky or Mario in charge of their respective franchises. And wouldn't you know it, Crosby is a Penguin . . . anybody else here believe in Kharma?

It could be from watch Wayne's World one time too many, but I've watched the Hawks best both the Wings and the Blue Notes this season . . . so I think they got a very real shot.
Khabby is beginning to look sluggish, but if Lalime can hold the line, there's no telling how far they can go. And if not this season, then I think we can all agree, they certainly make it in the next couple.

bk your right about no team willing to give away a lot for a few months, i heard vancouver will only trade for sundin if he agrees to stay another year, i guess that makes it more interesting

Ottawa's gonna play out the year and see if this team i good enough to win a cup before they make any drastic moves. And if they do not win a cup this year, it would not be because of the offense, that I guarantee.
agree his name is emery thats why they wont win a cup. gerber isn't very fantastic either
