You can't make an argument by saying IF Tom Brady didn't play the Pats wouldn't win shit, IF Belicheck wasn't the coach they wouldn't win, IF Belicheck didn't have Brady they wouldn't win.
They did.
Brady has been the quarterback. Belicheck has been the coach. The Pats are the best team of the past 10 years, and easily a dynasty.
IF David Tyree didn't make a ridiculous catch, the Patriots would have a perfect season.
IF Bill Walsh didn't have Montana and Rice, he wouldn't have won shit.
To many ifs. They played the game and Giants won fair and square. Clearly out hit, out hustled and out coached them. Dynasty my ass. And I don't live in New York, but West Roxbury, Ma. They got beat just like when the Colts beat them the year before. Dynasty teams don't lose games like these.

Bottom line is, nobody has a clue what will happen with the Pats. Everyone is guessing. Just have to wait and see. They could be phenomenal, they could be less than satisfactory. The positive side looks towards being entertained again on Sunday's. Let's just watch some competitive football games for a change. We'll have to play this one out....I predict 10-6 at this point !

guys all i'm saying is this BB has only won with Brady as QB - no one else
Bill Parcells won 2 super bowls with 2 diff qb's , Gibbs won with 3 diff qb's
To sit here and tell me BB is one of the best coaches of all time is fine. My point is let's see him do it with someone other than Brady - than i will bow done to all you NE fans and say he is the best
You guys are super high on your defense we all know that BB is a great defensive coach , Parcells won with Hostletter lets see Cassell take them to the game
My major point to the NE fans is this - Tom Brady is the best QB i have seen in my lifetime , better than Montana , Elway , Marino , whoever else people want to put out there . All 3 SB wins were because of plays he made under the gun in the 4th qtr. He gave them a chance to win a 4th s bowl , but , the supposed great NE def led by head coach BB couldn't stop Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin and Kevin Gilbride - a team that was 3-5 at home and couldn't get out of each other's way all season long.
If the defense couldn't make a stop against a very avg at best NY Giants offense with all the marbles on the line , what makes you guys think all of a sudden they are going to be the 85 bears this year? I don't see it, sure they will beat up on the sisters of the poor , but this defense will not carry you guys 16 games.
you just don't lose someone like Brady and just keep on chugging along -
and before we annoint BB as the greatest coach ever let's see him win with a journeyman QB
JJ - was an all world coach , couldn't do anything in Miami with an aging Marino , George Seifert won 2 sb's with the 49 ers and was def cor on other 49 ers sb's - he ended up in Car with some very marginal players and his win % went straight down hill

I dont see anyone here recognising the biggest factor of all
Many to most teams were already psychologically beaten by the Patriots before they even got on the field with them. Now every team is going to believe that have whatever extent of a chance against them - that means the Patriots will have to do more to win with less = the physical & mental fuel tanks empty faster = leaves them more vulnerable down the line.
The Patriots are no longer kings of the psychological battle that's fought prior to kick off. That's where they've taken their biggest hit of all.

well said and agree 100%. Patriots still have a ton of talent. Enough talent where if Brady were never in the equation, would be enough to win the division. And when you win the division you are a sb contender. But it will be interesting to see like BetC said, how NE wins the psychological battle. Luckily for NE fans, the schedule on paper is very weak and despite not having that psychological edge, still might be able to eek out 10-12 wins.

they will go 4-2 in the division , that gets them 5 wins
they will go 3-1 against the nfc west - that gets them to 8 wins
AFC road games that they will win : Oakland - 9 wins
Afc home games (already 1 win) they will split Den/Pitt - 10 wins
that's it 10 wins tops now go ahead and tell me where i am wrong
10 wins is a nice season , palyoff bound , but far from being a super bowl contender
That is the exact season that I have them at right now. Split games against Buffalo and the Jets, lose against Indy, San Diego, and Seattle, and I think they will beat Denver and lose to Pittsburgh. 10 wins will easily win the AFC Least this season as I'm not yet as high on the Bills or Jets. Either way it's going to be a very good year for viewing because for the first time in a long time, we are not expected to win. Takes a lot of pressure off of us viewers because when they lose, it's not as heartbreaking and defeating.
Two teams that are in much bigger trouble is San Diego and Seattle. Those teams with those injuries are just absolutely done for. The Chargers should have forced Merriman to get the damn surgery last year when they had the time. I guess he didn't take enough steroids a couple years ago. This guy is a bonehead, and I lost any respect for him I had left after the steroids thing. You are not bigger than the doctors, and you may have done more damage now that can be replaced.
The Seahawks may be heading for a 6-10 type of season. They have absolutely no weapons remaining on that offense, and like I had said in other threads, I still believe Matt Hasselback is extremely overrated. We will see what he can do this year without his stud running back and with some injuries to his receivers. If he proves me wrong and still throws 25 touchdowns and less than 15 interceptions, then I will eat my words. But the way I see is this guy has been able to hide behind Shaun Alexander and that solid defense. They got to the Super Bowl in Alexander's insane season, and since then they haven't won a playoff game that I can remember. Good enough to win the shitty NFC West, but not good enough to win when it counts.

dont' forget it will be raining........... I myself love the under........ the pat are going to RUN the football......... the jets are going to RUN the football....
love the jets at home giving 1, but they could blow this game, its very possible.......... they are favored but it is the Pats..... lets not forget they did go undefeated regular season, even if the eagles and ravens should have beat them last year..........
but looking at this game in the rain I have to say the best play is the UNDER

Bills are looking damn tough though, that'll be a good game a little bit down the road. Pats will be 4-0 for sure with a couple of pansy games coming up, the Bills have a shot at being 7-1 going into the game in November against the Pats. The only tough game they really have until then is San Diego...and they aren't looking as tough as they once were. I like it though, and in a way, I'm glad Brady went down. I obviously hope he gets better, but at least watching the games and going into the week you don't have a foregone conclusion. We might lose every game we play. With Brady, it was just watching for the stats and the showboating.

I agree its exciting now every game because you just do not know how they are going to jell now with a different QB....every game is loseable...Seymour was a MONSTER today....that D-Line has to be dominant every week for this team to win games...plus i'm liking how they are doing exactly what I predicted offensively...running, screens, short passes underneath, conservative mistake free football...just like 2001...Cassell is doing great IMO...not one INT or fumble, he's just doing his job so far without mistakes, Belechick will prove this season once again what an incredible coach he is.
