I'm taking a look at what these squads did against common opponents.....
Atlanta :
Beat Arizona 41-7 Beat New Orleans 27-24 in OT Beat Cleveland 20-10 Lost to Pittsburgh 15-9 in OT Beat Cincinnati 39-32
Tampa Bay:
Beat Arizona 38-35 Lost to New Orleans 31-7 Beat Cleveland 17-14 Lost to Pittsburgh 38-13 Beat Cincinnati 24-21
So for two teams with a majority of their games this year against common opponents, Atlanta played better in each of those five games. Now I don't think it is a mystery that Atlanta is the better team, but this shows me just how much better they are than TB.
I also love how TB is 5-2 at this point. No snoozing, no looking ahead, no underestimating an inferior opponent. This is a home game playing for the division lead at the halfway point of the season. I think this is gonna be a playoff atmosphere in a dome with the crowd going bananas with a 2nd year QB lining up against them. Would it be fair to say that Freeman is playing his biggest game as a professional athlete this Sunday?
Now for the line.....My books are all either -8.5 or -9(-105). I would guess that the majority of people will want to take those points, and the line "should" go down(at least through the week). I don't think it will go to less than 8 though, so if and when I see 8 I will hop on it.

Just wondering glyde, why you don't have your own thread, being as you quote, analyze and post on practically every comment made in this one.
I noticed when I make my own threads, I get about 83 views and no reponses, so I stopped a few years ago(felt like a waste of time). Sometime a few years ago(it was Giants-Cleveland MNF game iirc) I noticed Andy has a similar style and thought process as me and started chiming in his threads(which generate many more views and good discussion). As long as he doesn't have a problem with me popping in during the week, I don't have a problem contributing.
Here's an example of the last time I started a thread trying to get some insight:

The Bears have what could possibly be the worst offensive line of all time. They have allowed Cutler to be sacked 27 times (31 sacks allowed as a team) so far and are projected to allow Cutler to be tossed to the ground 62 times this season.
Bears are not a running football team (26th overall in NFL) and that is the weakness with the Bills, they can't stop the run (dead last 32nd in the NFL) but they are 6th in the league in defending the pass.
Two bad teams playing each other at a neutral site is sort of a coin toss. No Play for me nut gun to my head I would say the Bills take this one.
The Bears may be a bad running team but do you remember when they played Carolina? They ran all over em with Forte getting like 200 yards and 3 tds. Just sayin.......

Fair enough on the joint thread answer glyde since it works for you and poster.
As for the Falcons/Bucs, I mentioned earlier that scoring seems likely for both teams. Seems more logical to go with a total in this one, rather than trust the Falcon D to cover the sides line. Agreed, this is Freeman's biggest game, but he has lead them to come from behind wins in the last 2.

I wish I could comment on this total, but I am strictly a "sides" guy. A few different times in the past I tried every angle possible, tried my hardest to understand totals, and monitored my bets without actually betting, and never could get the best of them so I ignore them. I do tail someone on totals though(he happens to like the Under in this one), but I just don't have anything to add to the discussion when it comes to totals.

The game that I think will be the most interesting this week is the Colts in Philly. I think a lot of ppl are counting out the Colts because of the absence of Collie, Clark, and Addai. I don't expect them to perform like the Colts of old, but I do still expect good things from this team. I can only assume Philly will start Vick and I'm sure he is the variable for the Colts getting 2.5. I can tell you this: Vick seems to be more worried with his golf game than with football lately. He was in Virginia from last Thursday to at least Sunday playing golf at a local course close to my home. His golf game reminds me of Rocky Dennis from the movie "Mask"......plain ugly. Just wanted some opinions on this game. I got on NYJ at -4 with you Mac for the exact same reasons you listed. Damn good writeups on that game man!

I just talked myself into the Bears. I can't help but remember the sheer sense of depression I felt watching these first two disasters in Toronto. The Bills have suffered two heartbreaking losses in a row and need the energy of their fans to get their first win, not playing in a dead stadium in front of a listless crowd. I just checked the two major newspapers in Toronto and neither has a single story about this game. I seen it mentioned once on TV. There is zero buzz and nor will be there for a "home" game in a crappy stadium for an 0-7 doormat.
Chicago -2.5
Bills are my team, can't really argue but.......Buffalo has had one of the hardest if not the hardest schedule so far. Bears are the shittiest team they have played........Bills don't have a pass rush but the Bears can't protect......This game looks like a shitshow in the making. Can't put my money on Cutler, he's too inconsistent

To all these Jets backers. HMMMMMMM -3.5 what a line. Vegas doesnt know what this line means. After reading your reasons why for example Rex Ryan wont let this happen. Veterans will step up. This is bullshit and means nothing or gives me know reason to take a team in this spot. Just because they got shut out at home doesnt mean they are going to blow a good lions team out. My advice would get your 3.5 now they when the line drives on up take the lions and hope for a 4 point victory. But I would never do that because I like the lions but will lay off because the line seems fair. What Im trying to say is dont fall in love with a team because of bullshit reasons. Mark Sanchez is not good. And Stafford will make him look stupid. Revis is overrated and so is that defense. The wholle team is overrated everyoone except the one who never talks David Harris. Good luck my rant is over go Lions. +3.5

MAC, been going through your plays for a while now and can truthfully say that you're one of the top nfl cappers on here. Having said that, the jets are a dangerous play this weekend. I have the lions winning this by 10+. BOL either way.

I'm no amateur bruce, been doing this for 25+ years. I absolutely feel like the lions will win this game and have them winning by DD. We'll talk sunday afternoon. BOL to you.

This is a tough game, Remy. My first instinct was that while both are stellar rushing teams, only one of them is good at STOPPING the run(KC). BUT.... To be honest, I'm not so high on the Chiefs stopping the run. Statisically they may be one of the better teams, but from what I have seen of them with my eyes, they can be run on and I wouldn't be surprised in the least if Oakland ran all over them. So while I'm leaning on Oakland at -2.5, Gradkowski might be starting on Sunday. Not that I think he is bad or anything like that, but you can't argue with what Campbell has done the last few weeks and I don't think pulling him would be in the best interest of the team at this point with them being so hot. This is a game where I think we are really gonna learn a lot about both of these squads, and I'm just gonna sit back and watch the short-cut on Tuesday afternoon for future reference. GL if you decide to take the Raiders. Obviously, you want to get them at 2.5 rather than 3 if you do go Oakland.
Yeah I must have been half asleep when I looked at the line because I thought the Raiders were getting a TD. at -2 I would say it is a no play for me. Plus when I looked at it a little deeper I didn't like how the Raiders did against teams with a strong running back or backs. Denver and Seattle are rather weak running teams. KC is going to come at them w/Charles and Jones all day. Too close to call.

Locked in Colts plus 3. I know that Reid is 11-0 off a BYE at home but I keep having flashbacks on how the Titans shredded their secondary a few weeks back and I can see Manning doing the same. Plus Vick is back off a rib injury and I wonder if he is going to be so daring with the run game or if he will try and stay in the pocket and avoid another shot to his ribs. Plus something seeems strange with DeSean Jackson. He failed his concussion test early this week and now the Eagles are like "Oh look he passed. He's playing on Sunday" Hmmmm. Something tells me he still has scrambled eggs for brains and the Eagles are just going to toss him out there anyway.

Gmen are one of the worse teams off of a BYE (3-9 ATS run) in the league but as much as I love SEA normally in this situ; you really have to take a good look at this game. Injuries are often an overrated factor in capping the NFL but SEA has a ton and Charlie Whitehurst will be making his first pro start without two receivers who have not practised all week and a weak O-line which Gmen defensive front will have a heyday with.
See a lot of dogs barking this week. DET, CLE most likely will not be pushovers. JETS and NE have their weaknesses despite their records and the Jets esp. play well into DET's hands. The will of any coach (ie. BB'S possible hatred for Mangini AND The Lip's temper after being SO at home) can only carry over so much as they aren't playing the game.
