It's laughable that people think Cabrera should win it over Trout.
I don't care if he wins the Triple Crown... the Triple Crown doesn't take into account walks, it doesn't differentiate doubles or triples from singles, it doesn't take into account skill on the basepaths, and most of all it doesn't factor in defense (of which Trout is upper-echolon while Cabrera is simply below-average).
Taking EVERYTHING into account (not just hitting), it's clear Trout has been the better player and more valuable to his team.
Based on the slash line of AVG/OBP/SLG, statistically speaking, this is Cabrera's WORST year between from 2010 - 2012
2010: .328/.422/.620 (1.042 OPS)
2011: .344/.448/.586 (1.033 OPS)
2012: .325/.390/.601 (.991 OPS)
If Cabrera didn't win the MVP those years, why should he win it this year? Just because he might win the "Triple Crown" because it just so happened nobody has hit more than 45 HR's or has an average above .325?

no question cabrera is the guy, tigers winning AL Central (even tho, yes, it's a horsebleep division) is the clincher IMO...
gr8t yr for trout but how do you justify being league MVP on a 3rd-place team?...
i kno i know, angels won more games and IF angels and tigers switched divisions blah blah blah, well guess what, let's try a novel concept, let's judge it on the reality of the situation...
speaking of reality, the biggest injustice in history in this category HAS to be andre dawson winning this award in '87 while a member of the 6th-place cubs...jack clark of the 1st-place cardinals in 200+ FEWER ABs drove in just 31 fewer runs while walking 104 more times.. clark's OBP that yr was .460, dawson's .328..dawson had 58 more hits, scored 3 fewer runs...dawson struck out 3 times as much as he walked, clark had a TOTAL of 3 more Ks than BBs...
total travesty...

I am pulling for Cabrera. I think its a doen deal to win the MVP but more , I want to see a triple crown winner. even tho he is 1 HR over Josh, it will be a tight finish.
I remember Cabrera while at marlins, once he was being intentionally walked and he just reached out and slapped a ball for a basehit. pretty cool
