Denny McLain, thirty game winner but the star was I forget. Was Al Kaline in this one? Cards were defending world champs beating Redsox the year before. They had Bob Gibson.

Lolich, yeah that is the name that escaped me. Listen I was in Minneapolis the year before attending college, the year the Twins had a one game lead with 2 games to play. They had Dean Chance and Jim Kaat pitching those last two games. They had Tony Oliva, rookie Rod Carew, Harmon Killebrew, etc. and they lost both games. At least got to see Mickey Mantle play in the old Met, believe Billy Martin was a base coach. Time goes on.

You know what's really cool? when you can just give the first name of a bunch of guys and everyone knows who you mean. Mickey, Willie, Stan, Ted, etc., that's really cool. And for you guys that think you are old, I can still remember Larsen's perfect game. Played hooky that day if I remember right, but the nun's in my parochial elementary school weren't too shook up. Heck, they had radios in the classrooms for the World Series and the nun's all declared a "silent study period". Those were the days.
Now and then even a BLIND squirrel can find an acorn

I definetly played hooky that day when Larsen pitched the perfect game. Man i am old but not to old to still love this game. And people call this the most boringest sport alive they obviously don't understand it.

I am not as old as you old timers but I have a deep appreciation for the history of the game. Hearing stories of the past greats being passed down is one of things I really love in life. I have the Ernie Harwell CD collection he made a year or so before he passed and it is something I listen to on every long rode trip I take.
My Grandfather before he passed, and my father still to this day, talked of that 68 Series like it was the greatest event ever. I watched Game 5 on the MLB archives a couple years ago, Brock was out in this Tigers fans eyes. I was at game 5 of the 84 series as a 9 year old kid and can still see Gibby rounding the bases after that homer off Gossage. It was a magical moment and probably cemented my love of this great sport. I don't care who they play, I just want to see them get a ring for us and Mike Illitch, the best owner in professional sports.

Larsen's perfect game? And all this time I thought you were a young, hot shot techie Key! Lol! I think Yogi was the catcher, because I remember a pic of him jumping into Larsen's arms. Nostalgia is great cause the world has changed so much like 9-11, never thought these things could happen but they did. May Roberto and Mick and Roger all be in baseball heaven.

Not sure we need his bagage but Josh Hamilton is trying the free agent waters and Mr Illitch will have him. So then we have VM coming back Josh Hamilton what are we going to do with all this talent.
