Other than the Triple Threat match, the PPV really sucked. Not totally unexpected, but for the Rumble to be such a dud, wow, that was bad.
As far as the title match, Lesnar performed amazingly, Cena was his usual stellar self, but neither of those is shocking. What was great about the triple threat match was how good Rollins looked and how many great spots were right on with all 3 of these guys. Rollins looks shady and snakelike, and that worked well in this matchup. Plus his aerial assault on Brock was tremendous and a game changer.
What I really loved was the camera angle when Brock came back into the ring in shocking fashion. It showed how fast he got back and how he could stun the other combatants with his suplexes. I realize some don't like Lesnar's suplexes being such a big weapon, but in fact they are and make the fights seem better no matter how many times he uses them. This triple threat rocked, and Rollins gained some respect, in my eyes.
WWE is tanking badly, though. Lesnar leaving will leave a huge void, even with his part time status. He's believable as the "baddest man on the planet" or the "beast incarnate" and the "conqueror." The faces, other than Bryan, just don't have the same steam and momentum to keep fans interested. Cena is one of the greatest of all time, but his stale persona is killing him and the WWE altogether. It's going to be tough for a stretch, although I will say, between Ambrose as the fan fave bad boy, Rollins as a growing threat as a heel, and the growth of a few others like Bray Wyatt (I hate that they've made him seem so weak a couple times lately though), there's so much talent for the future that they will survive all of this nonsense.
Has there been a weaker WrestleMania on paper in the last 18 or 19 years????

Greg "The Hammer" Valentine or Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff would've dropped these panty waist pu$$ie "wrestlers" in 2 seconds flat..... One interview with "Mean" Gene Okerlund, or a session in Piper's Pit, and it would've been dealt with......
C'mon, who the fukk bets their hard earned money on fake wrestling?? Are you fukking kidding me? If you would have taken your money, lit it on fire, at least it would've provided heat for a few seconds......
If I lit money on fire...I would have lost the money. But instead...I bet it on fake wrestling and made a profit.

I've never seen The Rock get boo'd like that since he was a regular heel. It wasn't directed at him but the fact that he was involved and still couldn't generate a pop for Reigns is surprising to me.
Great crowd, though. They knew what they wanted. Where's Raw tomorrow. This was a real wrestling crowd. Reigns will get cheered again in a less hostile environment but he woulda been boo'd in any major city tonight.
It wasn't a great crowd.
This was the most classless crowd I have seen at a PPV and most any live event and it was unprecedented in the way they turned on the Rumble as a whole because they didn't get their winner.
Let me say unequivocally, everyone who paid has a right to boo.
But I know someone who was at the event.
And he said that the crowd, prior to the Rumble, had it set in stone they would boo the hell out of Reigns from beginning to end.
Total lemming sheep that they are.
As soon as Bryan was eliminated, it was all downhill from there with these fools.
Again, I understand that Reigns was pushed on us as fans but who is the alternative?
A Bray/Brock WM? Yeah sure.
Bryan again? Too soon.
Ziggler? I'd like to see it but they'd never let it happen.
Who's left? Ambrose?
Reigns is the only one that makes sense right now.
The crowd needs to calm the hell down and suspend disbelief and do as Aaron Rodgers said, "Relax".
Finally, the Triple Threat match was a match of the year candidate to be grateful. And I will add that the way they booked the eliminations was TERRIBLE. Outside of that, chill out and embrace PPV. It wasn't nearly as bad as people are making this Rumble out to be!

To me, as bad as everyone is ripping the rumble itself, the one thing that stood out was Bray's performance. He looked like the eater of worlds (and man Cole's line about the eater of worlds vs eater of worms was funny) and they played it up well. So for a few moments, things looked good during the rumble.

drove down from new york for my first ever ppv event and besides the Brock Match I felt like i was watching an episode of smackdown. It's very sad when the new day guys had the second best match of the evening. The rumble was stale as hell. This whole authority crap has gotten so dumb I'd boo also If I cared enough. Big show and Kane vs roman with a knocked out rusev on the sidelines.Holy crap that was bad. I'm the biggest rock fan of all time and thought mb just mb he would be a regular in the rumble. I pitched a tent when his anthem came on and he sprinted out. Not even the Rock could save this debacle tho. It was about as anticlimatic as it comes. Reigns needs a heyman type guy which I'm sure has been stressed. He has the personality of a dead walrus in the ring. They coudl've at the very least made bryan a late entry to the rumble and let people thing he has a chance. The way they iced him was pretty cheesy. WWE Brass seems to be doing everything in their power to troll the fan base in a way. How much longer can they do this? Makes no sense when you're trying to launch a brand new app/network. Give the fans at least a taste of what they want. heck even a ziggler run would suffice

I haven't kept up with much WWE in a while, but I flip by USA on Mondays and just kinda watch for a minute or two, after hearing about the Rumble here I ended up watching the entire show Monday and that was pretty bad. The Rumble used to be my favorite PPV, back in the days when all the stars were in it at the end... Flair winning was a great one. Now it's kind of a joke. That title match was good though

So all wrestling crowds are classless because they...watch wrestling?
Typical troll who raids the PPV threads...
Go to an Eagles, Jets, LSU, Raiders game. You'll find a hell of a lot more class at a wrestling match.
I used to go to some house shows back in the 90's at Richfield Coliseum.... that was some top-notch people watching. I remember one lady sitting behind me yelling to the Undertaker at the top of her lungs that Giant Gonzales was behind him.... those were some fun shows. I went to SummerSlam 96 in Cleveland.... that was the one where Shawn Michaels berated Vader in the ring during the main event... the highlight of that show was the opening of the PPV when Jerry Lawler came out in a Vinny Testaverde Ravens jersey (was the 1st season following the Browns leaving). Lawler is actually a die-hard Browns fan... he was good.

I haven't watched WWF/WWE in years because it was so terrible.
How is it lately
You should watch! It's not bad at all. The 3 hour Raws are a bit much to sit through (I suggest DVR'ing them) but you will be entertained I promise you that!

You're not really getting the point as to why the fans booed the Rumble. They booed because it was so poorly booked, not because Reigns won. The Bryan elimination at that point in time made absolutely no sense. If WWE had the foresight to realize it would go downhill after everyone's favorite got eliminated, the crowd would not have turned on the match the way it did. The fact that they had the best up and coming stars get thrown out of the ring like rag dolls to 2 guys on the cusp of retiring was disrespectful to the wrestlers and all of the fans. The reason they booed was because they made it so inherently obvious that Reigns was going to win. If they had the last 4 as Dolph, Bryan, Cesaro, and Reigns and then Reigns won, yes the crowd would have booed the result, but at least it would've been compelling and the audience would've been on the edge of their seats cheering for who they wanted to win. Instead, we got Reigns eliminating 2 guys that have been in the WWE for a million years and clearly weren't going to win. And then, WWE screwed up even more by having a heel in Rusev come back in the ring, in which the fans cheered because there was still some hope that Reigns would not win, followed by Reigns just eliminating him like he was nothing. The whole match was horribly booked. Again, it wasn't the result that was the problem, it was the way the match was booked.

You're wrong. They started a mass booing as soon as Bryan was eliminated and continued throughout the evening with small pops for Mizdow, Ziggler etc.
The unwashed masses that are Philly fans are not all so-called 'smart marks' who are intelligent enough to boo or not boo a 'proper booking.'
They revolted at Bryan and had it planned well beforehand they would boo Reigns to hell if the WWE even thought of putting him over.
I know people who were there. They said the booing was continuous after the Bryan elimination because at that point they knew Reigns had to go over. And they revolted on the entire match (and to even think Bryan goes over there is foolish in itself which shows you how 'smart' they are).

I'm surprised that they actually flipped the script based on fans outrage. Reigns is probably still gonna be the guy to face Lesnar at WM, but they had to add legitimacy and build him up. Having him take out Daniel Bryan/Seth Rollins is a safe way to go.
It's funny that most of the time when a big face is wrestling you know for sure he's going to win. Especially during a buildup to a PPV. You know the only way he loses is if it isn't clean (Rollins briefcase to Reigns tonight).
Isn't it a foregone conclusion that Daniel Bryan is going to win the match vs. Rollins tonight? The only way fans will accept Reigns at WM over Bryan is if he beats him (clean or not).
Rollins doesn't need to win because he has the MIB briefcase. I guess they want to keep us at the edge of our seats for as long as possible.
Whatever happens tonight or at Fast Lane, Roman Reigns is still gonna be the guy at WrestleMania.
Sparky, that was great analysis on the original post. You already knew what was going to happen because it was blatantly obvious to anyone that follows wrestling news through the internet.
Brock Lesnar was never in jeopardy or losing that match. They pay good money for the guy, and they can't have him lose before main eventing WM. He's too over right now to not be the main attraction for the WWE event of the year.
I actually think Rusev would make a great heel main eventer, but I guess as I'm watching it right now, they're in the process of building him up with a John Cena rivalry.
