That is very common in the business of succesful sales employees, and the bar and restaurant business.
I myself dont think anything you want or can do is up to you and I sure as hell am not going to talk shit about it. But my advice from what I have seen all around me for 12-13 years now is that mixing the meds with alcohol is a recipe for disaster in the long run.
I would say to ween yourself off of the bars and ambien for sleeping. I see those as being the potential for getting in the way of where your wanting to go.
I mean dude if you smoking on nugs and having a few drinks here or there. That should be plenty and you wont have the troubles down the road with prescription meds which is almost a given.
Spit made several good points about the meds.
It wont be easy breaking the routine you have but forget about xanax or any prescription for that matter.

And partying is normal in many profesions like yours so dont think you are out there because of what you do.
I myself am getting back to my home state after 3 years and into the bar and restaurant business to be a bartender. I have had several good paying jobs in the distribution business and am not going back because I hate it.
I quit in 2004 and got to play golf and travel up until about 2 years ago. And the time I got to spend away form working a real job has made me realize that I hated everyday because I lived to work. This year the roller coaster I have been on for 5-6 years is over and I have to rebuild from scratch damn near.
I am going to work to live going forward and getting into work where I can do the things I love. Socialize, drink, smoke blunts, and meet new women are all benefits of being a bartender. And I can meet women at work!!!!! lol
So I say do all those things but the meds and dont let getting fucked up keep you from closing deals
And you will blend into the other 80% of successful salesmen in the US blowing all of thier bonuses on fun shit

Dope...I'm 32 and am in the exact same situation you are in except for the Xanax and Ambien....I work six days a week in sales and marketing at a golf country club where partying is going on 24/7....I take part in a lot of it but never let it effect my work...
3-6 beers and 2-4 vodka tonics is the norm plus a nice big bowl of ooooo weeee!
I don't find anything wrong with it bro.....
I have grown up playing golf and being in that enviroment in my teens and up till about a year ago. I quit my job at a distribution center in 04 was part time traveling in mini tour events in 04-07 and gambling on the course, I was offered a salary wether I worked or not from a country club that was damn near my second home away from home. And wether you are working or playing people want you to be a part of the party.
A normal day consisted of meeting a group of gamblers at a certain time to play and bet. Of course most guys away from thier wives get hammer drunk while playing. Then after 18 the losers are not happy so the bets continue till dark. Then go into the bar to settle bets and have drinks. Then the night starts for the guys not going home to their wives and go out drinking from there. There have been many weeks where I blew 4-500 a week on bartabs and fun shit along the way doing this process 5-6 days a week.
I miss alot about that but with the rollercoaster I was on for 4-5 years and my game going in the shitter when I needed it the most. I am walking away from golf as far as a job is concerned because I dont feel like spending the rest of my life as a golf shop pro who works 60-70 hours a week
I have played twice in 2 years.

I had to make a correction to that one statement. I sometimes dont read what I wrote before I hit submit.

I won $1500 for making it past 25. The human body is quite resilient but you might want to cool it with the xanax. Mixed with booze your liver is
