i'm not sure... K St SHOULD be favored over S Carolina... but alot of SEC love and bias goes into the lines, because the majority of the nation believes there is a significant gap...
imo, the fact that Tx A&M (who hasn't won the Big 12 in i don't know how long) ran neck and neck with LSU in their first season in the SEC, and particularly the fact that their defense mysteriously looked like an "SEC defense" once they lined up against an "SEC offense" should have dispelled this myth for anybody who was looking for a measuring stick...
of course, for most people, it didn't...
Did you even watch the game
LSU's defense won that game creating 5 turnovers and limiting A&M's ground game. Meanwhile the Aggies D playing at home couldn't force any turnovers and allowed the Tigers to average 5 yards per rushing attempt.
SEC defenses excel at creating turnovers and shutting down the run.Texas A&M's D ranks #103 in the nation in turnover margin at -7. Mississippi St. is +17, 'Bama is +14, Florida is +11, and LSU is +9.
The Aggies are very young defensively and will only get better as recruitment will improve as a direct result of them now being in the SEC. But as for now, they are not there yet .
